The more you see of these people - and I don’t mean the obvious physical ugliness of the whole gang (NAIR should open a franchise there - starting with the men) - but the utter lack of character - oh yeah, I know, years of oppression and blah blah blah - the more you realize that the ONLY reason we should give a Shi-ite what happens to the place is OUR OWN STRATEGIC INTEREST.
As far as providing the Iraqi people with ANYTHING? I say, NOTHING - absolutely NOTHING - beyond what HELPS OUR INTERESTS in that part of the world. PERIOD.
As I tell my Italian cousins all the time, whenever (and they don’t do it so much anymore!) they dare to criticize the US: “After bailing your sorry cowardly asses out of Mussolini’s-Hitler’s sling, all we want from you is GRATITUDE, NOT ATTITUDE!”

The slow reaction of the secret service is shocking. There was plenty of time before the second shoe for one or two of them to jump in front or push him down to protect him. No doubt, this will be in future training videos for those who will be in charge of protecting a president. It is shameful that our President was left up at the podium and had to protect himself. I am sure that Laura is not happy about this.
This is upsetting to watch. I pray that President Bush returns home safely, and continues to serve us without another incident. Those watching over him must be more alert. Very scary.
If this somehow transends into support for the President the Left will claim it was all a setup and staged for effect.

I am shocked that the Secret Service didn’t tackle this guy before the second shoe- WOW is all I can say about that. I’m sure they have a double tough job because they have to judge their reaction based on perceived threat in a split second but you would think they would have gone over a scenerio of what to do if people throw things at the president- probably not specifically a shoe scenerio- but I would think objects thrown would have a plan.
