Specifically look at Newt’s history. It’s always been the same. Lots of great conservative thoughts, ideas coupled with moments of sheer insanity! Nothing really new here.

You original statement in #58 -for which I asked for evidence- was this: "Fitzgerald has said repeatedly that no one in the Obama camp is a target."

Nothing you posted in #193 supports your claim.
Neither Fitzgerald nor anyone else, AFAIK (except you), has gone so far as to say "that no one in the Obama camp is a target."

Your AP quote deals only with Emanuel, not everyone "in the Obama camp."
And not surprisingly for the AP, one "source" for their claim (that Emanuel is not a "target") turns out to be (a) anonymous and (b) "close to Emanuel." Wow, that's convincing. /s

The AP's other "source" is also anonymous; the reporter gives us no information whatever about where that "source" got his information.

One more suspicious thing: Note the AP reporter uses the word "subject" instead of "target" in describing what Emanuel supposedly isn't. Interesting choice. Reporter doesn't let us know it that's a quote from his "source," or if he just made that up.

As for your reply re Rove, it's a non-sequitur for you to say "As for Rove,he was not indicted. They were really after Cheney."

My point about Rove was that he, too, was told he was "not a target." Yet clearly that did not mean Rove was either "cleared" or in no legal jeopardy for the almost two years he was under Fitz's scrutiny, before Fitz closed the case.

I do understand that there are some members of the Republican Party who do not endorse conservative ideas. Nonetheless, the Republican Party is the Party of Solutions.

It was...when Newt was in charge! Then we had Bush, Hastert, Boehner and McCain...absolutely useless.

If America is to be saved from the terrible threats that lie in wait in the descending gloom just ahead, it will not be saved by the academics. It will not be saved by the permanent class of bureaucrats who infest every corner of Washington, DC. It will not be saved by pompous and posturing politicians who fret about polls and perceptions rather than concern themselves with ideas or reality. America will certainly not be rescued by its elitist news media, whose sneering hostility toward their own country's values can scarcely be exaggerated or even satirized any more. The people who will save America, if in fact it is to be saved are the ones who have done so before: those of modest means and great faith. Those of small hopes and large dreams. Those who love their country, honor their families and take seriously their responsibilities to themselves and to each other. At the end of the day and in our greatest moment of peril, I have every faith that the people who will rise up to save our nation will be those who can still stand together in a little bar, raise their glasses and sing "God Bless America" without the slightest bit of guilt, irony, self-consciousness or reservation, but with the sort of love and devotion that made God bless America in the first place.

Andy, I totally agree. These words deserve a far greater audience. Our life experience is very similar, so I can fully appreciate what you are saying here.

I sometimes can't even finish "God Bless America" because I get a lump in my throat and my eyes mysteriously get blurry.

I pray that I will do my duty to preserve America in my time. It is our turn to do so.

Gingrich, Thompson and, yes, McCain, are a tag team for the RINO’s.

I think Newt has consistently demonstrated that he has a conservative bias in his thinking.

It's the liberal bias in his thinking that gets to me. Explain his stance with Pelosi on Global Warming, with reference to how that's based on conservative thinking. It's not. And it would be a huge mistake to follow through with it, an even bigger money pit than Medicare Prescriptions or the Home Loans For Everybody scam.

His unthinking responses (i.e. his biases) tend to the left, not the right. I'm looking for folks who have a bias towards believing that whatever the Left says is a lie, and that whatever they ask for is a cover for what they really want.

Folks I agree with? I support the Club for Growth, they are one source of conservative folks, though some might not be socially conservative. Sarah Palin seems to have her head screwed on straight.

Leadership? The ones we tend to hear about are the ones that the MSM write about, and they don't write about conservatives, witness Duncan Hunters coverage in the primaries. So I can't point to any right now.

Oh, I had another thought. I like whatever politician thought up the ad that Newt is complaining about. You can’t do carrot-and-stick without the stick.

Dear Newt Gingrich,

Understood. I get it.

And yes, it's going to be interesting.

I heard the tape where Blago says ‘mf Obama will only give me his appreciation...it’s a non-starter in my opinion. It makes Repubs look like sore losers...this coupled with the birth certificate-now it’s ‘natural born’ since most agree Obama was born in Hawaii from what I can tell look like they are unable to accept their 2008 losses. Repubs need to look like statesmen...grownups who will lead this country out of crisis in order to win future elections.

“Repubs need to look like statesmen...grownups who will lead this country out of crisis in order to win future elections.”

That’s the approach that’s gotten us into this mess.

The Republicans need to show liberals for the satanic idiots they are, destroy their reputation so thoroughly that admitting to have ever been registered demonrat will be social suicide.

I would not consider the GOP tax and spend Republicans have shown any adherence to principle in the last few years. What got them into trouble was politics as usual-pork, scandals etc. Where are their plans for this country? How will they govern-low taxed, reduced regulation etc. were what was need in Reagan’s time. I’d like to hear how conservative principles can be applied to today’s problems in a serous way. Don’t just talk the talk-walk the walk.

He’s not my president, until he can prove he was born in this country. Until then he is an illegal usurper and is to be treated as such.

If he ever proves he is legally entitled to be president, then he gets all the respect the dems showed W.

“I would not consider the GOP tax and spend Republicans have shown any adherence to principle in the last few years.”

Soitenly not.

“What got them into trouble was politics as usual-pork, scandals etc.”

Those were certainly factors. However, as someone noted earlier, the rats’ entire campaign platform was “Bush sucks. Republicans suck.” This succeeded for the rats, and the pubbies utterly failed to return these salvos.

“Where are (the pubbies’) plans for this country?”

Don’t care. IMO they are not fit to clean toilets.

“I’d like to hear how conservative principles can be applied to today’s problems in a serous way. Don’t just talk the talk-walk the walk.”

If you want to walk that walk, you must first realize that all leftism, from limousine liberalism to Stalin’s mass murders, is of and from Satan, and Satan loves bloodshed.

Look a belief that can not be altered to deal with modern problems is never going to work. There will have to be partnerships with industry as every other country does...the free market will have to be regulated in some way. Reagan looked at the economic situation of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Taxes were at 70 - 80 %. Regulation was awful. We had inflation and 21% interest rates. It was obvious that we needed to cut taxes, shrink government and all the other things he did. However, taxes are low now. Regulation is lighter. Government has grown unfortunately, but I don’t know how this will ever change. Now we face all types of modern problems-health care, trade, recession with deflation etc. Conservatives must find a way to adapts conservative principles to 21st century problems.
