Media now economic saboteurs for Obama?
Republican Liberty Caucus ^ | 12/28/2008 | Publicola

The preliminary sales forecast for December, released by Mastercard, on Friday showed that retail sales may be down by as much as 4 percent.

This early stage Christmas retail sales report was gleefully touted by the establishment media as some sort of economic catastrophe. Even Fox News, with Greg Jarrett, on Friday said sales could have dropped by as much as eight percent. Invariably, these stories are followed up with tales of how Barack Hussein Obama, when he is inaugurated, will bring rays of economic sunshine with his deficit spending plan, which promises to be several times larger than what FDR did during the Depression.

Leaving aside the obvious — the media are, and will remain, in the tank for Obama — is it not clear that the major networks and wires and TV stations are now waging economic war on the U.S., that they are economic saboteurs for Obama?

During wartime, as during World War II, the Office of Strategic Services, built radio stations and published newspapers that spread, among other disinformation, bad economic news to the Germans to demoralize the populace.

Is this not, almost exactly, what the media is doing to our own populace today, with the overly aggressive reportage of preliminary economic news? They’re trying to depress the morale of the populace, so, that, in contrast, when the magic Hussein arrives on the scene, they can report that, hey, sales are okay, they were only down, preliminarily, by four percent. That’s not as bad as we feared.

For anyone who follows economic news, the reportage on Friday was almost completely absurd. The figures were early stage — they were only from figures by Mastercard. They did not take into account sales made to customers with Visa Cards, American Express Cards, or Discover Cards.

The MSM has engaged in this behavior for decades. What I don’t understand is why a group of wealthy conservatives won’t create a conservative TV news network. That is, one which tells the truth! My guess is that it would jump to number one in viewership within two years.

A San Diego, KUSI reporter did a story about this, and to his credit ACTUALLY reported the ENTIRE story. He spoke to this subject and reported that the story is that the second "black Friday" is slated as being so far under financial expectations for the stores. Then, he did something REMARKABLE...he actuallly showed the HUGE LINE UP OF CARS waiting in line == a line that went on forever to get into the mall. His ending comment was, "LIES, DAMN LIES, AND STATISTICS"

I heard something on the radio last night—Newsweek I believe—that kept referring to the “post-American” economy.

this is how the media operates and has operated for as long as i can remember. the drop in the market from dec 2007 to today was all due to media pounding the bushes to drive the sheeple in the direction they want.

personally, i would like to resolve the issue. and i know how.

i want to add one more element to the anti-discrimination laws... political affiliation.

after adding that one component, the media will be required to fill their ‘quotas’ of republican or right-leaning employees.

... i’m not holding my breath though

FYI - this is also the station that has John Coleman, founder of The Weather Channel, and outspoken critic of man-made global warming.

On the other hand, their morning guy is Dan Plante, whose father is Bill Plante - major lib for a major alphabet channel.

Just wanting to point out that although KUSI has it's bright spots of reality based thinking...they have their dark side at this station, too.

All the stores I saw had full parking lots, hardly any available baskets and lines at all check-out stations. It was inconvenient to do regular shopping as the extra Christmas shoppers were filling up the isles. The propaganda machine is blaring loud and I do not believe it. They are making it sound worse before BO takes over. It’s like magic, if you know how it works you can’t be fooled.

.
Yep, 4 of my 5 siblings had expanded their mortgages and their deficit spending has gone beyond the immediate gratification to long term misery

The same number of people are driving the same number of cars to the same number of malls as last year.

The gifts take the same amount of visible activity to procure, but this year, people are spending $300 instead of $3,000 and paying cash instead of using credit cards. Thus the huge fall in sales numbers.

“I heard something on the radio last night—Newsweek I believe—that kept referring to the ‘post-American’ economy.”

People...err, I mean idiots...always like to add the prefix “post” to things. Like they can predict the future. Well, let me look into my crystal ball. If history has taught me anything, governments around the world will continue to interfere in global trade, ostensibly for the benefit of their own people. This, in turn, will result in a decline in living standards proportional to the interference.

What some people don’t seem to understand is that China and India are like Texas and Florida, so far as the economy is concerned. Political boundaries don’t matter. And ironically, the nations who grasp this fact will be the most prosperous and powerful.

Imaginary anecdotes and made up numbers, and the media has no need to sabotage the economy because we're way ahead of them.  Sure, there's lots of good economic news out there (Amazon Records 'Best Ever' Season), but we all know things are bad so we'll leave it at that.

I heard more again today... “post-America world.” The media is now attempting to prepare the masses for a world without a powerful USA.

I don’t know if anybody has factored in the weather. the Seattle area was just about shut down for more than a week before Christmas. Trucks couldn’t get to stores. UPS couldn’t get to houses (I am still waiting for a next day air package that is now over a week late).

I was at a Best Buy the other day and wanted to buy a printer but they were out because the trucks haven’t been able to get through.

At Safeway the manager told me the delivery trucks had to put on chains just to go the last 50 feet down to the loading dock, then unchain when they left. Think about how much that slows everything down.

I do feel like the “economic meltdown” was very well orchestrated and timed by the media to hit in time for the election.

True, true. Remember back in October when the world was coming to an end? Whatever happened to the apocalypse?
