Che Guevara; A Study in Stupidity, Sadism and Failure

The Cuban freedom-fighters who faced Che at the Bay of Pigs and later in the Congo still laugh. The Bay of Pigs invasion plan included a ruse where a little boat packing a huge fireworks show and tape recording of battle sounds landed in extreme western Cuba as a diversion.

Sure enough, the wily Che immediately recognized this as an Anzio-type “second front!” He snapped on his holster, cocked his beret at just the right angle, scowled for the camera and rushed over with a few thousand troops. He spent the whole battle there (300 miles from the invasion site). It was the only thing in the invasion that went according to plan.

Later, many of these Cuban-American freedom-fighters itched to get back into the fight (but with ammo and air cover this time). The CIA obliged and sent them with ex-marine Rip Robertson to the Congo in ‘65 where Castro (with tongue tucked deeply in his cheek) had sent Che to foment a “war of liberation.’ There, the Cuban-Americans fighters linked up with the legendary mercenary “Mad Mike” Hoare and his “Wild Geese.”

Here’s Mike Hoare’s opinion, after watching them in battle: “These Cuban-CIA men were as tough, dedicated and impetuous a group of soldiers as I’ve ever had the honor of commanding. Their leader [Rip Robertson] was the most extraordinary and dedicated soldier I’ve ever met.”

Together Mad Mike, Rip and the Cubans made short work of the alternately Chinese-and Soviet-backed “Simbas” of Laurent Kabila, who were murdering, raping and munching (many were cannibals) their way through the defenseless Europeans still left in the recently abandoned Belgian colony.

MATTHEWS: Yes, but they're kind of cute at this point, aren't they? They're not about somebody out to get us now. I think there's a difference. I mean, that's kind of camp almost, isn't it?...is Che Guevara the symbol of hate in the United States anymore?

KRISTINN: Yes.

MATTHEWS: I don't think so. I mean, a lot of our kids wear them. I see kids wearing them all the time, even my kids wear them. It's like a Robert Marley T-shirt at this point.

The Fox TV affiliate in Houston has captured images of a volunteer in a campaign office for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama working in front of a flag featuring the image of Che Guevara, the South American revolutionary who became Fidel Castro's executioner after the communist takeover in Cuba.

And while the Obama campaign has issued a statement placing a modest distance between the campaign and its "volunteers," the issue of such an image on display in an office operating on behalf of a man hoping to be commander in chief of the world's last remaining superpower is raising alarms.

Even Obama supporters have been forced into corners because of the issue, with one likening the Texas state Republican Party to Guevara, to whom have been attributed hundreds of executions of anti-Castro leaders.

Under the heading "Barack Guevara," Investor's Business Daily raised some of the more pointed questions, to which the campaign responded only with a statement: "The office featured in this video is funded by volunteers of the Barack Obama Campaign and is not an official headquarters for his campaign. ..."

Years ago, I read a very rude story entitled “The Death of Che Guevara”, in which Guevara has been captured in Bolivia, dressed as a woman, and is a flamboyant homosexual.

He parades before the Bolivian soldiers, while doing a seductive striptease, and singing a rude Spanish romance song. For their part, most of the Bolivian soldiers are deeply embarrassed and disgusted, except for a couple of soldiers, who are showing a little too much interest. So an officer shoots Guevara in the leg with his pistol.

Guevara then has hysterics of screeching and crying while his heavy makeup runs, gimping around while promising to castrate himself to honor the Black Virgin of Guadalupe if she will spare his life, before launching into a parody of Norma Desmond staircase speech from Sunset Blvd.

Obviously in the middle of a nervous breakdown, he tears off the rest of his clothes as the Bolivians are ordered to open fire, to put him out of his misery. They have some difficulty in hitting him, as he launches into “Hello, Dolly”, while alternatively lurching around in his delusions and wiggling his buttocks at them.

Finally dead, the lone CIA agent witnessing the execution recovers a heart locket with pictures of Che and Fidel in it, from Che’s clothes.
