I don’t they would risk corrupting the plot when millions are at stake. Nobody would watch a botched version especially in this chaos that is now unfolding.
It is not money that is the root of all evil.
The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
Actually, the Bible says “money is the answer for all things.”
Ecclesiastes 10:19
A meal is made for laughter, and wine makes life pleasant, but money is the answer for everything.
It's a nice page, but their use of BCE (Before Common Era) is a turn off for me. We all know what it was before, and when someone can't even say it I find myself compelled to move along.
Anne would have the appropriate sympathies but probably not the acting skills. I think you would need a really fine actress to sell the role and the attitude (regardless of her political sympathies) like a Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslett, Jodie Foster, Emma Thompson, Nicole Kidman, or Marisa Tomei.
Don't remember Dagny's age so that would probably thin out the candidate list. Helen Mirren would have been my first choice if she were younger but too late for her now.
“An honest man is one who knows that he can’t consume more than he has produced.”
Thanks for posting this. It’s been 40 years since I read it. Some concepts are timeless.

Ecclesiastes 10:19
A meal is made for laughter, and wine makes life pleasant, but money is the answer for everything.
And Solomon, who wrote Ecclesiastes, was the wisest man who ever lived.
You know, I would love one of these business owners go up to some union leaders and say, “you know since you guys believe that money is the root of all evil, and since you are a socialist by nature-which means that you don’t believe in money to begin with—I won’t be paying any of you guys. Either work for what the market dictates, and I can replace you.”
That’s why you’ll never have socialized medicine in this country. Once all the doctors realize that they are not going to be paid what they’re worth, nobody will want to be doctors anymore. It’s like with all of these lawsuits. Why should I even practice, if I’m going to end up broke? The only good thing about this is that nobody is going to want to become a lawyer because nobody is going to sue a poor doctor. If you don’t believe me, just wait to you tell your law partners that we are not going to be making any money because all of the doctors are now government controlled. Of course, if you do have government medicine, and some doctor screws up, doesn’t that mean we can sue the government for malpractice? How about this—I would love some Republican say: “Sure I’ll help you pass health reform, right after you Democrats pass loser-pay legal reform.” Of course, no Republican has the guts to say that...
Bump!
I’m reading through Atlas Shrugged for the very first time and I was cheering during this speech.
I just started the final 3rd of the book now.
Ask a bunch of conservatives and environmentalists. A group who had long been online contacts...until they started discussing a Sustainable Development! And conservative pointed out at almost every turn their ideas would not be ‘sustainable.’
I was there and witnessed the destruction of the group. It only took 5 conservatives well versed on/in the ideas of Atlas Shrugged. We garnered a number of readers who to this day (2 years later) are still referencing a tome some were never required to read.
We still maintain a conversation group regarding Atlas Shrugged and how it relates to the environment. The few who post or visit are true conservatives and grasp the idea of the productivity of the individual is what determines success.
Others were die-hard left and never even bother to pick up the book, let alone read the excerpts.
Right now we're discussing the new Consumer Product Safety Act of 2008. And as odd as it seems those over on DU have the same opinion regarding the changes. LOL. It sinks in...it really does, even when you think they were a lost cause.
1 Timothy 6:10
ReFerences sake.
Thanks EBH, I been searching for the verse (I knew it was “the love of money” that is the root of all evil).
This has got to be the most misquoted quote.
tagline change
Another bump! Today’s Wall Street Journal has a nice article showing how prophetic the book has been:

Thanks for posting this. Ayn Rand, for all her personal flaws, changed my life in a very fundamental way when I first discovered her as a sophomore in college, just as the rest of the student population and faculty was getting into Chairman Mao and SDS.
Bump.
I cannot separate the book from reality anymore so I quit reading it. Along with The Incredible Bread Machine.
