Obama's Intelligence Adviser Involved in Security Breach

Monday, January 12, 2009 1:46 PM

Obama’s top terrorism and intelligence adviser, John O. Brennan, heads a firm that was cited in March for breaching sensitive files in the State Department’s passport office, according to a State Department Inspector General’s report released this past July.

The security breach, first reported by the Washington Times and later confirmed by State Department spokesman Sean McCormack, involved a contract employee of Brennan’s firm, The Analysis Corp., which has earned millions of dollars providing intelligence-related consulting services to federal agencies and private companies.

During a State Department briefing on March 21, 2008, McCormack confirmed that the contractor had accessed the passport files of presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John McCain, and that the inspector general had launched an investigation.

Sources who tracked the investigation tell Newsmax that the main target of the breach was the Obama passport file, and that the contractor accessed the file in order to “cauterize” the records of potentially embarrassing information.

“They looked at the McCain and Clinton files as well to create confusion,” one knowledgeable source told Newsmax. “But this was basically an attempt to cauterize the Obama file.”

At the time of the breach, Brennan was working as an unpaid adviser to the Obama campaign.

"This individual's actions were taken without the knowledge or direction of anyone at The Analysis Corp. and are wholly inconsistent with our professional and ethical standards," Brennan’s company said in a statement sent to reporters after the passport breach was made public.

I have a confession to make, that really happened to me when I was a teen, and it did get infected because the head stayed.

So....

We cannot yank the blod engorge Marxist tick lest we leave behind the head and jaws.

We can perform hit and run tactics against his followers, they are already reaching a critical mass of astonishment that the promises made to make them followers was false lies to support their demi-god at their expense.

I remember watching the sequel to the classic movie The Guns of Navarone where they had but a limited amount of explosives to crack the dam, but if placed properly and set off in stages it creates shockwaves combined with the weight behind it creates fissures and cracks and ultimately failure.

Obama has a massive amount of weight about to be lowered onto him immediately after the inauguration.

Israel will ignore him and the public will deride and castrate him because he has failed to prevent Israel from Attacking Iran. That is a near certainty, might be happening this very moment for all I know.

A massive sea oil refinery platform was launched years ago in the North Sea, huge was an understatement, somebody welded a gusset for a sea hydrophone in the wrong place and a crack started, it sank the rig.

We can hammer the wedge in his cracks and no amount of infinite monkeys will save him from sinking.

As I so fondly remember the scene of the movie Titanic, where the chairman of the White Star Line claims its unsinkable, and the reply, “If its made of iron(or steel) it will surely sink”.

A little bit of pay to play:

Note the $2300 “donation” came before the passport purge.

"This individuals actions were taken without the knowledge or direction..."

And so we have plausible tenability. Nothing to see here, move it along...

“didn’t he have to declare to each state of the Union that he was qualified to hold office under the Constitution?”

Indeed correct Mr. Scott...
In my small mind, I believe there are at least 50 challanges that can be filed - one for each state - since NO state secretary had the onions to dispute the paperwork coming from the DNC.

So, who’s responsible for this fraud on the ballot or through the elector process??
My personal reaction is that Dean, Reid, and Pelosi are the primary players but I also expect Emmanual, Shummer, Kennedy(the drunk/sunk elder) and kerry are fully on-board with this (political)abortion.

Perhaps the supermarket tabloids will do the job that our [voluntarily] state-controlled media will not do. This sounds like an excellent investigative project for the National Enquirer, which has been surprisingly accurate on a number of political scandal stories in recent years.

After Sharp Words on C.I.A., Obama Faces a Delicate Task
New York Times, The (NY) - Wednesday, December 3, 2008
Author: MARK MAZZETTI and SCOTT SHANE
Abstract: Pres-elect Barack Obama faces task of selecting Central Intelligence Agency director who holds beliefs consistent with those he espoused on campaign trail, where he was harshly critical of Bush administration’s most controversial counterterrorism programs, from hiding suspects in secret agency jails to questioning them with methods he denounced as torture; CIA veteran John O Brennan ‘s withdrawal from consideration for job sends message that those who worked in agency during war on terror may not have chance; Obama advisers are set to meet with group of retired generals and admirals, who will urge him to stand firm against deviation from military’s noncoercive interrogation rules, but even some senior Democratic lawmakers who have been vociferous critics of Bush administration policies want to retain flexibility on interrogation techniques (M)

Passports probe focuses on one worker - State Department to use polygraph in case
Washington Times, The (DC) - Saturday, March 22, 2008
Author: Bill Gertz and Jon Ward, THE WASHINGTON TIMES

EXCERPT

Mr. McCormack said yesterday there was a fourth person who breached the passport records, although he described it as a case of inadvertance. He said a passport office trainee last year was learning how to work with passport electronic records and searched for Mrs. Clinton’s file as a test, but was “immediately admonished, and it didn’t happen again.”

Working-level supervisors confronted the three employees after a computer alarm system was triggered by the effort to access Mr. Obama’s records.

“What didn’t happen is that that information didn’t rise up to senior management levels, so that we could be made aware of it. That should have happened,” Mr. McCormack said.

If senior officials were alerted to the intrusions, additional safeguards would have been used to protect the data, Mr. McCormack said.

Officials said the computer alarm that was set off includes a notification mechanism that should have alerted State’s inspector general. However, it is not clear whether the IG reviewed the improper computer activities, the officials said.

Passport Files of Three Presidential Candidates Were Breached
Los Angeles Times (LATWP News Service) (CA) - Friday, March 21, 2008
Author: Letta Tayler=(c) 2008, Newsday

EXCERPT

The contact workers opened Obama’s and McCain’s files earlier this year — in Obama’s case, as recently as last week. Supervisors were alerted by a computerized alert system that flags unauthorized peeks into high-profile passport files.

A fourth employee casually opened Clinton’s file last summer during a training session with another worker and was reprimanded, McCormack said.

Passport files include such information as Social Security numbers that could allow sleuths to access credit history and other personal details.

Two workers were from Stanley, Inc., a Virginia company that just signed a five-year, $570 million contract to work on the State Department’s passport database, The Associated Press reported. A third worker was contracted from the Analysis Corporation (TAC), which is headed by John O. Brennan, a former CIA agent who advises Obama’s campaign on intelligence and foreign policy, the Washington Times reported. The paper also said the State Department was conducting polygraph tests.

SNEAKS PEEKED AT OBAMA FILE - FEDS AX 2 PASSPORT GAWKERS
New York Post (NY) - Friday, March 21, 2008
Author: GEOFF EARLE Post Correspondent

EXCERPTS

The incidents occurred in January, February and March, as Obama burst onto the national scene to become a top contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, but Obama wasn’t informed about it until yesterday, his campaign said. Passport files are supposed to be kept secure under the Privacy Act, and employees are instructed not to read them without authorization.

The fired employees got caught by a computer system that monitors people who dig into files of “high-profile” individuals.

(snip)

State Department officials said the files probably contained Obama ‘s passport applications, which include information like date of birth, travel plans and Social Security number.

They couldn’t say for certain that the fired employees didn’t pass the information on.

Obama has a particularly diverse background that makes his file juicy. His father was from Kenya, and as a child, Obama lived in Indonesia - a country subject to travel warnings and terror threats.

He made a 2006 visit to Kenya that attracted national attention at the time, and more recently, when photos surfaced of him in tribal garb.

I would love to have his social security number to run through the government web site that lets you check whether he really registed for selective service. All you need is ss#, birth day, and last name. It is a public web site.

I would also like to see if he could pass a everify check on the federal employment website.

Obama part of group locked up at Russian airport // U.S. delegation stripped of passports as guards demand to inspect plane
Chicago Sun-Times (IL) - Monday, August 29, 2005
Author: Lynn Sweet, Sun-Times Washington Bureau chi

WASHINGTON — Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) were not allowed to leave a Russian airport Sunday and were locked in a room briefly.

The incident prevented their departure for about three hours, but Obama told the Sun-Times “it ended up not being a very big deal.”

The senators had their passports seized by local officials at an airport in Perm. Obama said the officials demanded, unsuccessfully, to inspect the DC-9 military aircraft being used by the congressional delegation for the trip.

(snip)

Although he was on a first-time diplomatic mission, Obama has traveled extensively, spending part of his youth in Indonesia and visiting Kenya, where his father was born. He noted that as a back- packing college student he had “a lot less leverage than this time.”

Obama , a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, and Lugar, its chairman, left Wednesday for a trip to inspect sites where nuclear and biological weapons are slated to be destroyed in Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan. On Sunday, the U.S. group was scheduled to fly from Perm to Kiev, Ukraine. But border guards wanted proof that the group’s aircraft — which Obama said looked like a “mini-Air Force One” — was really an official U.S. government plane, which would be exempt from an inspection.

Robert Gibbs, Obama ‘s spokesman traveling with him, said in an e-mail that “the border guards took our passports and demanded to inspect our aircraft, which we refused. We were moved to a room to wait.”

“At one point they were demanding to inspect virtually everything, including the gifts their representatives at the missile facility had given us.” The border guard said “they were acting on the authority of the FSB,” the Russian intelligence agency.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice phoned Obama and personally apologized for the breach. “I told him that I myself would be very disturbed if I learned that somebody had looked into my passport file,” Rice told reporters. She phoned Clinton and McCain and offered similar apologies.

Okay, maybe it's just me, but this solidifies a theory I've had for some time-

We no longer have a 2 party system. There is one system with 2 parts and one of the main function of each is cleaning up the messes made by the other part.

Americans need to realize these are Bush's people who allowed this to happen, instead of STANDING up to the obligations of their offices and actually serving the interests of the country. Prosecutions of those responsible for the breach, if nothing else.

Now the Dems step in to pick up the crumbs.

[sigh]

It's gonna be a LONG 4 years.

Thanks for your thoughts in post #47 and I am pinging to others.

You have given me some great food for thought and perhaps you are correct. I have been so disappointed in my favorite conservative talk show hosts for being silent concerning this Constitutional crisis. The unanswered questions about Barack Hussien Obama aka Barry Soetoro are so many, yet the simple documents to the answers remain sealed from public view. And many, like me, just ask WHY?

I do not want to believe that SCOTUS would let the questions go unanswered. The SCOTUS is our last hope for making sure the Constitution is upheld and that the person we have as Commander in Chief is constitutionally qualified.

Reading the Newsmax piece it notes that the full report (heavily redacted for the public) of the State Department Inspector General was turned over to the Senate ...Committee headed by Sen. Joe Biden. So now we know why Biden was selected as he has the goods.
