He now claims that Human Events faithfully reported these facts to their readers, but when asked to support that erroneous claim by citing specific articles in the four years since Romney's illegal orders went into effect, Babbin angrily professed not to remember and abruptly hung up, ending the interview.

On numerous occasions, Jackson and others had gone to great lengths to share Romney's far left wing record with Babbin and other writers at Human Events such as Ann Coulter, David Limbaugh and John Gizzi, but they all chose to suppress Romney's radical record in Massachusetts and in doing so deceived countless conservative readers.
Also in this interview with Jackson, Babbin adamantly asserted:
* that the unalienable right to life is no more important or fundamental than the freedom of speech or the right to vote--a statement that is not merely illogical, but is an accidental admission that he is not pro-life in any meaningful sense
* that America's founding national charter, the Declaration of Independence, is not part of the Organic Law of the United States of America--despite the fact that the U.S. Code (section XXXVII - LXVII, "Organic Laws of the United States of America" ) says explicitly that it is, and despite the fact that the Supreme Court has repeatedly stated that it is (astonishingly, Babbin is a lawyer)
* that the candidate whom Human Events endorsed for President, Fred Thompson, whom Babbin claims is "solidly pro-life," had "no choice" as a lawyer other than to represent the nation's largest abortion provider: Planned Parenthood
* that despite John McCain's support for taxpayer funding for both embryonic stem cell research and Planned Parenthood; despite his belief that babies in the womb do not possess a God-given unalienable right to life that no state may violate; and despite his opposition to a Human Life Amendment--the core plank of the Republican Party--McCain too is "solidly pro-life"

I totally agree with those here that Romney would have been WAY better than McLame. To state Romney compromised (changed stance on abortion which...So did I), yet McLame is a flaming liberal with an R after his name.
he ran a pathetic campaign, telling us obummer would make a fine president and we shouldn’t be scared of him.
At least Romney has a boatload of FIGHT in him and recognizes the enemy, both foreign and domestic.
I sure saw Human Events Babbin, Ann Coulter and David Limbaugh lead in the charge to stop Obama this past election cycle. I did not see or hear any of these guys in major print or on television trying to stop him. And behind the scenes they must have little credibility with the religious voters because Obama got a larger margin than usual from that voting bloc. So back at ya with your “bullhockey”. I do not need anymore holier than thous that do not do a damn thing but complain and take no action. These folks stood on the sidewalk and watch Zero pass them by.
I don't think these three in particular have "gone over to the dark side." But, I do think they need to take a step back and get some perspective, to get back to the core principles that are at the heart of conservatism. And then they need to act on it without regard to how doing the right thing will affect their little kingdoms.

I don’t know if he would have won, but I do know that when the economic meltdown official became political fodder (September 15th, 2008) Romney would have been THE MAN on the topic.
We’ll never know, however. Between the single issue voters, and those like Huckabee ate up with the goofies about Mormons..well, we ended up with a RINO that received a tepid 37% of Republican votes in the primaries.
McCain cost the GOP four points in my view, in the election cycle all by himself, for the reasons we all know well.
Whats telling is how some know this, but play ‘dumb’ as we see here.
I don’t want to argue with anyone, but I think there was this push towards people in the primary season last year like Romney, Thompson even Huckabee that was all designed to split votes up so McCain would win.
Right now I’m afraid that inside the beltway crowd like Mr. Babbin may want Willard M. Romney to be the next GOP candidate for president.
I put Sarah Palin first in line myself, but I will wait to see how she participates in the 2010 primaries to form a fuller opinion of her.
Reagan supported some RINO’s in his day, but Palin better stay away from Arlen Specter in my state or my estimation of her will decline.
Many of the posts on this thread are a vivid demonstration of several things:
1) Why it is so easy for a complete liberal fraud like Romney to take over the Republican Party, which he has already done.
2) Why ideologically shallow leadership in the so-called conservative movement matters.

Look, if Romney did the things that are said that he did, then he engaged in gross deception of conservatives when he campaigned for the nomination.
I suspected that he was another "too cool for school" country-club Republican, another social snob who couldn't rub elbows with "those people", the troglodytes who helped nominate first Barry Goldwater and then Ronnie Reagan, or even level with them about where he was coming from.
It was good enough to fob them off with half-truths, to manage them, just to get "the right kind of people" in the White House again -- Ivies, snobs, cultivated secularists hiding behind a rotten facade of pretended belief and phony political solidarity with churchgoing, dues-paying, tax- and bill-paying conservatives.
At some point you have to admit it, that Mitt Romney was just another Obama with a slightly different agenda. Same schools, same mannerisms, same tastes, same social milieu -- New Mandarin .... and very probably the same beliefs about leadership and what makes people and politics tick.
So how do you get another Ronald Reagan or Sarah Palin out of that?

I used to be VERY pro abortion in my ignorant days. I would bet at least 50% of the people on this board, at some time in their past lives, either were pro abortion or totally complacent to it.
Things change, thank GOD, and people are waking up to the ramifications of abortion and changing. Romney included.

Yep. Ironically, many of those posters seem to think the vote by Collins, McLame, Spector make them ‘okay’ and I shouldn’t point out the cynicism of it.

They've laid waste the GOP and the conservative movement in the 2006-2008 election cycle with nobody forcing their hands. Denny Hastert, Ted Stevens, McCain, Romney, the turncoat commentariat -- all of them. They had their innings, they had money, they pushed conservatives aside and kicked us to the curb. They had their turn. And they left nothing but wreckage and rising smoke behind them, and a Red Diaper socialist in the White House, with Weathermen in his kitchen cabinet.
They're fair game starting right this minute.
The hell he does. Where was Mitt Romney when Lambda Legal, with homosexual "marriage" on the docket before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, sent Mary Bonauto to bring the Chief Justice herself to a Lambda honors dinner to receive an award? Where was Mitt's outrage? When did he put his foot down about that bagatelle?
Where was the people's vote on homosexual "marriage"? When did Mitt Romney facilitate that, to stop the slow-walking 'Rats from stopping a vote in the legislature, and cutting off a plebiscite on the subject?
Where was Mitt Romney when the Chief Justice made her power play, ordering gay marriage be instituted on a short fuse, precisely so the People could have no say?
Where was Mitt when the enemies of the Republic ran wild?
