Actually volcanoes tend to cool the earth—ash in the air reflecting sunlight before it can heat up the surface and lower atmosphere.

(cf. Tambora; Eighteen-hundred-and-froze-to-death; 1816, the year without a summer.)

Serious global cooling would actually be a disaster, far more dangerous than global warming. Still, if we have to have a planet-wide disaster, an ice age, or even a second little ice age would be a source of grim delight for those of us who have repeatedly pointed out that AGW is bunk.

You are correct. Global Cooling would be much more dangerous, especially since we are still in an Ice Age - albeit an Interglacial Warm Period. The AGW kooks always fail to mention that.

Our own Alaska volcano Redoubt is acting up and is at Code Orange. They are predicting the most likely scenario to be similar to activity about 15 years ago. People in Anchorage (100 miles away) and environs are stocking up on face masks, goggles and other supplies.
