Attn FReepers: Defeat Porkulus!! Call/email your senators NOW!!
Click here to contact your senators! ^ | February 6, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 02/06/2009 12:16:08 PM PST by Jim Robinson

I've tried both Boxer and Feinstein, but get nothing but busy signals or "mail box full" messages. That's a good sign. That means citizens are burning down their switchboards. But they also have forms on their websites to send messages. Click the link above to contact your senators.

Here is the message I sent to both of my senators:

Please vote no on the pork package. If you want to stimulate the economy, stimulate business investment and hiring and give people more money to spend NOW, cut the taxes. Cut business and investment taxes. Cut the payroll tax. Cut the personal income tax. Don't burden us or our children with trillions of dollars in crippling new debt. You cannot tax, borrow and spend your way into prosperity. The Chinese are going to eat your lunch! Scratch that. They've already eaten your lunch. They're now eating your home!

Regards,

Jim Robinson

I heard on FOX news that Feinstein is actually considering voting no. Now is the time to call. Put the pressure on and keep it on! The people do not want this trillion dollar boondoggle! Time for the senate to get a taste of the wrath of the people!!

Every one of us should contact the three turncoats and assure them that when they come up for re-election we will be certain to work and donate to defeat them, even though we don’t live in their state.

Thanks for the Ping Jim.

We're in an economic recession, and some claim we're in the early stages of an economic Depression. Throwing money at the problem will not avert a Depression.

Looking back on the history of the Great Depression, many credit FDR with introducing programs that pulled us from the Depression. Other history buffs claim it was WWII that ended the Great Depression. I'm going to go out on a limb and claim it was a sense positive accomplishment that pulled the nation out of the Depression. I'd like to explain.

A definition of Depression is, “of or pertaining to the life, welfare, and relations of human beings in a community”.

The USA is a community. Our community as a whole is in a state of depression. Depression cannot be treated by doing over and again the very things that caused the depression. The best treatment for depression is accomplishing new higher goals.

In the instance of a community depression, government is not the answer, especially when Congress has a negative 36% approval rating. Government may have a role in stopping the depression, but it needs to be a limited role.

From our history, I would argue it was our victories in WWII that gave the nation the confidence needed to close the Great Depression. Those victories were provided primarily by our fighting forces and our industrial supremacy. I would likewise argue that it was the space programs undertaken during the Eisenhower and Kennedy years, and carried forward, that averted another Depression for many decades.

Now, I'm not suggesting we have another war to pull us from our community Depression. I do believe our nation needs another great challenge though. Of all the great challenges we could set for ourselves, I do believe developing an inexpensive alternative to oil would be the best challenge.

Whatever our country undertakes to raise the confidence of the nation and put the nation and the economy back on track must be positive. Seeing how large we can make the national deficit is not a positive undertaking.

What if my senator situation is still contention? (Coleman-Franken?) I contacted Klobuchar already, but I know what her response will be. At least I did it, dambit.

I've been in contact with the offices of PA Senators Casey and Specter, today, and over the past couple of weeks. Senator Specter's offices are well staffed, and usually I can get through to a human being in the Philadelphia office, but not this week. The citizens are really tying up the phones - good news. I finally got through to a staffer at the Erie office and left a personal message for Senator Specter.

I've also been in touch with my state-level representatives to urge them to re-assert 10th amendment rights. The staffers seemed unfamiliar with the issue, and I sent them information.

Obviously, we're never going to get Schumer to announce he's voting against the stimulus package. However, even liberal Democrat Senators may be willing — without saying so publicly — to slow down the approval process if enough of their constituents ask him to vote, “No”. Please send an email to Schumer. What can it hurt?

Thanks for sharing! I contacted both Cantwell and Murray. I have no doubts as to how they will vote, but had to try!

In addition to contacting my Senators and Mr. McConnel, I have sent the following to GOP Chairman Steele:

Chairman Steele:

First of all, congratulations on your win! It is my hope that your election will signal a true movement for "change" within the GOP. It is desperately needed in these trying times we are in.

I wish I could end this email here, with best wishes and such. Unfortunately, as a gravely concerned lifetime member of the GOP, I am also writing to call you to action.

As you are very well aware, the Senate is set to vote on the economic "stimulus" bill. At the very best, this bill will put our children & grandchildren in debt for years to come. At worst, it is the beginning of a long descent into socialism and the complete destruction of the very ideals this great Nation was founded upon. Perhaps the saddest part of the whole situation is that there are actually several "Republican" Senators who see fit to play into this garbage in the name of "bi-partisanship".

Here's where you come in. As the leader of the GOP, the "Grand Old Party", you ARE the man responsible for the future of our party. I fear this future may be in jeopardy, if the Republicans in the Senate give ANY ground on this ignorant piece of legislation.

As such, I implore you to take the helm of the party and to be the one who will bring the GOP back to its core principles. Please do me, and every other average GOP member out there a huge favor, and work towards making sure that Senate Republicans stand with their counterparts in the house and vote a resounding NO to ANY FORM of the "porkulus" bill. You know as well as I that it will do NOTHING to stimulate the economy. You and I both know that this very well could be the last battle for the GOP. Please do not let that be.

Thank you for your time, and please accept my warmest regards and wishes for your tenure as the leader of the GOP. Please don't let us down.

Sincerely,
dware

Done.

Also, I think Gillibrand may be susceptible.

Tell me what I and others can do overseas. (For example, we have the benefit of being able to call during our day here in Asia when it is night time in D.C. to leave messages on people's machines, when most Americans are asleep and the phone lines less jammed.)

McCain is a “maverick” so who knows what he’ll do.

If it hadn't been for that RINO, Palin would have won.

Down with McCain!

Go Sarah

Called and emailed my Senators and Congressman.

Also called and left messages for Arlen and Susan Collins. Their mailboxes were full so I did resort to leaving a message to their “under-things”.

My message was that we are all becoming Slaves to the Federal Government with this “stimulus package.

Give Barney Franks a couple of George Michale's “beach boys” on South Beach and perhaps he won't be there for the “vote”.
