Jindal Says Republicans Can Only Blame Themselves for Loss

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said Saturday that the Republicans only had themselves to blame for losing control of Congress and the White House.

"The country fired us from our congressional majority in 2006. Why? The country didn't stop being conservative. The Republican Party did," Jindal told a gathering of Arkansas Republicans. "We became what we came to Washington to change -- the party of earmarks and government spending. The party needs to stop worrying about what to do to fix itself. Let's worry more about fixing our country. Then the party will fix itself."

No, I suspect he’s talking about Tim Walberg and RINO Joe Schwarz.

He’s 100% right. I haven’t read the comments yet but I’m curious if the Party over Principle crowd will be on this thread. Or maybe their heads just exploded.

The party needs to stop worrying about what to do to fix itself. Let's worry more about fixing our country.

That is what I keep asking, when will the Republicans step forward and say this is what we screwed up and this is how will will fix it. What about the credit default BS, slipped into a bill in the middle of the night. etc, etc, etc,

He knew he couldn’t get more based on his financials.
He was a turd and couldn’t raise funds.

“I hope the Republican country club elitists types choke on it.....”

I doubt it effects their caviar intake. I just hope it’s contaminated Chinese or Russian caviar with a little Po-210.

Matriculation and “breeding” doesn’t trump common sense and ethics if the playing field is level...and we have to make it as level as possible.

To make the playing field level we have to forget conservation and destroy a species. Rino extinction should be our goal.

The man says he is not and will not run for president, his parents were not citizens when he was born here. And his mother is not a citizen today, the last I read she lives in Saudi.

Its a bigger story than the Clinton kickbacks from Red China. You saw how well the MSM covered that, eh ?

If I am remembering right Knollenberg had the nerve to say the bailout money was not our money, or something like that.

the current Senate and House minority leaders seem at ease with their minority status.

Minority candidates can make a lot of money off of arbitrating disputes and divisions within the minority. You can make quite a comfortable political living off of it. It is not leadership, but it's not a bad life.

What's sad is we saw it coming, just like we did with Bob Dole, and so many of us insist on purity that not enough of us could settle on strong candidate. And, as usual, when you refuse to take a stand you end up with what's left over. And that was McCain.

Whether your objection is based on a candidate being pro-choice, anti-second amendment, bad record on health care, an unfaithful spouse or too this or not enough of that the end result is the same. Bob Dole or John McCain.

Somehow we manage to shoot ourselves in the foot every time. Our problem is that we have no comparative, just superlative. One guy is pro-life and pro 2nd amendment and is a good speaker, but oh no, he voted to raise taxes one time. Another guy has never voted to raise taxes, been a lifetime member of the NRA, but oh no, he's not outspoken enough on the abortion issue. We go down the list finding something about every one that we don't like. Everybody ends up finding someone they like, but there aren't enough of them who like any one of the candidates so we end up with the one who is disliked least by the most. That's bass-ackwards, we need to go with the one who has the most to like.

And we can't learn from experience. Who is the one person who has brought us the most success in the last 40 years, other than Ronald Reagan? Newt Gingrich. Say what you want about his morals, he and he alone was responsible, with a large helping of Rush Limbaugh, led the Republican revolution. The Contract with America was his, as was the idea of buying a full page ad in Reader's Digest, and having all the Republicans gather on the steps of the Capital to kick off the election season. He's the one who took on Jim Wright. The list goes on and on.

Of course he became the lightning rod for the MSM/Left/Liberals. Just like Bill Clinton became the lightning rod for conservatives. But look at the difference between how we handled the Left going after Newt with how they handled us going after Bill Clinton. Newt suddenly found himself with precious few friends in Washington. Clinton, on the very day he was impeached, found himself on the South Lawn of the White House surrounded by the entire Democratic leadership.

Look at where we are today and tell me that we wouldn't have been better off sticking with Newt, or going with Rudy, etc.

You can see it right here in FR. Say something nice about anyone except Ronald Reagan and you find yourself being flamed in several posts.

I don’t recall who said it but this sums it up for me:
I can vote vote for an imperfect Conservative, I can’t vote for a near perfect Liberal.

I’ll take some imperfections but people like McCain have far too many imperfections to pass the smell test for me.

Give me:
Sandford, Palin, Jindal and I’m tickled pink.

Give me:
Rudy, Mitt, Huckabee and I’ll do a write-in again.

I won’t pick between two flavors of Liberalism, ever.
I would rather feel the urge to vote FOR someone than merely vote against someone.

Do you honestly think we would be any worse off today with McCain in office instead of Obama. Seriously, I'm trying to be a smart ass.

IMHO, we would have been better off to elect John McCain. I can't help but feel he would be better in the office than Obama.

You are wrong on that. He was born in Louisiana.
