WASHINGTON -- Sen. Edward Kennedy, battling brain cancer, is in Florida and will miss the final Senate vote on the economic stimulus package.

It's also time for more pressure on Specter and Snowe, since all we need is for one of them to move to the pro-American side to kill the Porkulus.
Porkulus WILL be burried!
That’s one less for cloture.
Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.
Considering they removed the housing credit, there is no stimulus left in the bill.....they removed the most important provision and kept all the pork.
I guess Karma is having his turn at the wheel of life.
Did Collins come to her senses?
I thought the $15k credit was excessive, but believed they would keep at least half of it.
between those 2, Specter by reports is starting to read the writing on the wall about his poll numbers. Between those 3 RINOS, Steele might be able to convince Specter.
Kennedy does not want this as his LEGACY. He sees the writing on the wall!
Wow, we said the exact same thing at the exact same tme!!
Since when did being dead or in a coma ever stop a ‘RAT from voting?
Kennedy must be near the end, to miss this vote.
I will pray for him now. He’ll be meeting his Maker soon.
No, not as far as I know.
For the Swimmer not to jump at the opportunity to damage the USA by voting in the Senate, must mean that Mary Joe’s murderer must be on death’s doorstep.
Not that the Ass Press would ever tell you the truth.
At this point, it doesn’t matter. We needed those 3 RINOs to hold the line on NO Cloture...once it went to cloture, there was no stopping it. I think now, it needs only a simple majority to pass. Somebody please correct me if I don’t have my facts right.
Which is unfortunate, because she voted for Ted in every election after her murder.
Specter, I sincerely hope, has just destroyed his chance for re-election.
Bush will be skewered forever, do to this economic downturn.
Ted Kennedy will forever be praised despite his contributions to it.
Now if Sherrod Brown misses his plane tonight from Ohio we are really gaining ground on not passing this thing!
Oh, then why did he support Obama, our first communist president? Teddy has been striving to stick it to the U.S. this way for his whole life. Porkulus is his life’s work.
“Why isn’t Kennedy in Cuba getting the best socialized medicine in the world...?” Great comment from 2banana.
And there wasn't. The Senate bill went to conference committee.
But now there is a conference report, a "new" entity. Language that has not heretofore been voted on by the senate. And debate on that hasn't been limited by unanimous consent, as far as I know. If there is one objecting senator, to voting tonight, then that objection must be respected. The only way around it is cloture.
“his rapidly deteriorating, terminal condition”!
From your mouth to GODs ears.
Not that the Ass Press would ever tell you the truth.
So true. To read the article it looks like he's in the best of health and rapidly recovering from the glioblastoma, a word the AP has never used to describe his condition.
> Kennedy does not want this as his LEGACY. He sees the writing on the wall!
That’s because his only legacy is his “aquatic” ability to turn a car into a submarine.
Hell !! when did a Democrat have to be present for their vote to count?
Mary Jo Kepechne is waiting to slam the pearly gates in Ready Teddy’s face.
Hopefully Mary Jo will get the honor of kicking his butt into hell.
Considering where he is going, I really wonder if this is true! I would like to think not.
he’s missing a chance to spend/waste other people’s money? dude must really be sick.
Wait but wait..with this new bill which is sure to pass the senate tonight...Kennedy’s health care will be cut off...I mean he is terminal right? So hay..why are medical dollars being spent on him when really they should put is fat butt on one of those spiffy Air Force NOââââ jets, bring him to LA, cart his carcase up to the La Brea Tar Pits and toss him in..isn’t it his duty? I mean if that is what is in store for the rest of us common peons,,,well shouldn’t he lead by example?
Convince him, then stab him in the back like the zombie he is.
Enough Zombie / Fascist Government Socialism. Let the Zombie companies die!
When the eventual day comes that this swine kicks the bucket, FreeRepublic needs to lift that unstated posting restriction that you can only say nice complementary things about the recently deceased.
I disagree also. My reason for disagreement is that wherever Mary Jo is now Kennedy’s arrival at the Pearly Gates won’t be of any interest to her. If she is in Paradise she is so happy, content and save to be in the presence of her Lord that it wouldn’t even occur to her to go out and meet him. OTOH, if she is outside the Lord’s presence she is in so much misery that Kennedy’s afterlife status is not only the least of her problems, but she’s powerless to change it.
What about the 59 or so others that haven’t been diagnosed yet?
“Hell be meeting his Maker soon.”
It will be a very brief meeting. Ol’ Brain Dead Ted will be heading “South” for the winter...permanently. (unless someone tells him about Jesus soon)
From the Bulletin(Philadelphia) today’s issue ran an article about Kennedy’s return to DC a week ago. You can access the story on line at The Bulletin.com.

The applicable Senate Rule seems to be Senate Rule XXVIII.
The way I read that rule, there are two points of order that can be raised against this conference report.
The first is that it hasn't been available for 48 hours for review. That's paragraph 9 of the rule.
The second would be if anything was added that wasn't in either the house passed version or senate passed version originally. If they added any new material in Conference. Or, if they removed something that was in both the original house passed version and the original senate passed version. That could trigger a point of order under paragraph 2 of Rule 28.
With all the hand written additions and changes in this thing, I think it's likely they have added thing that weren't originally in either bill. And I think some of what was removed had been agreed to by both houses.
The problem is, first some Senator will have to bring a point of order. If nobody objects, then the thing sails through. If either point of order is brought, then it takes 3/5ths (60 votes) to waive the point of order and proceed with a vote.
I don't know if she did or not BUT it is my opinion that those GOP members who vote for this bill be removed from ALL committees, denied any GOP money for re-election, and possibly ousted from the GOP...
