WASHINGTON -- Sen. Edward Kennedy, battling brain cancer, is in Florida and will miss the final Senate vote on the economic stimulus package.

Convince him, then stab him in the back like the zombie he is.
Enough Zombie / Fascist Government Socialism. Let the Zombie companies die!
When the eventual day comes that this swine kicks the bucket, FreeRepublic needs to lift that unstated posting restriction that you can only say nice complementary things about the recently deceased.
I disagree also. My reason for disagreement is that wherever Mary Jo is now Kennedy’s arrival at the Pearly Gates won’t be of any interest to her. If she is in Paradise she is so happy, content and save to be in the presence of her Lord that it wouldn’t even occur to her to go out and meet him. OTOH, if she is outside the Lord’s presence she is in so much misery that Kennedy’s afterlife status is not only the least of her problems, but she’s powerless to change it.
What about the 59 or so others that haven’t been diagnosed yet?
“Hell be meeting his Maker soon.”
It will be a very brief meeting. Ol’ Brain Dead Ted will be heading “South” for the winter...permanently. (unless someone tells him about Jesus soon)
From the Bulletin(Philadelphia) today’s issue ran an article about Kennedy’s return to DC a week ago. You can access the story on line at The Bulletin.com.

At this point, it doesnt matter. We needed those 3 RINOs to hold the line on NO Cloture...once it went to cloture, there was no stopping it. I think now, it needs only a simple majority to pass. Somebody please correct me if I dont have my facts right.
The applicable Senate Rule seems to be Senate Rule XXVIII.
The way I read that rule, there are two points of order that can be raised against this conference report.
The first is that it hasn't been available for 48 hours for review. That's paragraph 9 of the rule.
The second would be if anything was added that wasn't in either the house passed version or senate passed version originally. If they added any new material in Conference. Or, if they removed something that was in both the original house passed version and the original senate passed version. That could trigger a point of order under paragraph 2 of Rule 28.
With all the hand written additions and changes in this thing, I think it's likely they have added thing that weren't originally in either bill. And I think some of what was removed had been agreed to by both houses.
The problem is, first some Senator will have to bring a point of order. If nobody objects, then the thing sails through. If either point of order is brought, then it takes 3/5ths (60 votes) to waive the point of order and proceed with a vote.
I don't know if she did or not BUT it is my opinion that those GOP members who vote for this bill be removed from ALL committees, denied any GOP money for re-election, and possibly ousted from the GOP...
Um... I don't think that's where he is headed...
They only need 50 to PASS it, they just need 60 if they want to make sure it does not start a filibuster against it.
My bet is if Ted didn’t know that the three turncoats were definately going to vote for this monstrosity he would be there. This bill is what he has been looking for since he came to the Senate.
“Did Collins come to her senses?”
Why does anyone believe Collins has any sense?
Yes...you are right. The 60-votes are needed to end debate, end any filibuster (Cloiture)....they just need 50 votes to pass (with Biden the tie breaker...they just need 50).
They would need to turn 11 more Dems...that aint gonna happen
And I would not be surprised if more GOP senators vote for this....
Oh, when you only mentioned Specter and Snow I thought Collins had switched. I gather then that she’s totally hopeless and not worth wasting time on.
I still don’t get why in 2009, a guy actually has to be physically present to vote. Everyone knows his position. Why can’t he just go on some live videolink into the chamber and vote aye?
Same thing with taking forever to vote by calling out each Senator individually. They should just vote electronically like the house does.
I wouldn't be too sure of that.
