El Roy and I exchanged notes and experiences in the oilfield via Freep Mail for about a year before I had the privilege of meeting him in person. I had no idea what he looked like. At the the shoot down in New Braunsfeld, I looked at the people there and saw what I was sure El Roy. I walked up to the man and said, "You look like oilfield trash to me." He smiled and put his hand out to shake. I knew in an instant that he was one of the few, whose handshake was better than any contract a lawyer could write.
He and I had worked many of the same areas in the world while in the oilfield, unfortunately not at the same time. We spoke and laughed about some of the places and dives we had both been in.
DAMN BUT I MISS HIM.

The lady and I went down to the river yesterday and it’s still torn up a bit. Large standing puddles and mosquitoes. We picked pecans, picked up brass and shot a little.
The funny thing is a truckload of people went over to the trees we had picked over and then the guys went over to the area we had picked up the brass. They walked right over to us without ear protection so we stopped shooting. They left after a few minutes. They wouldn’t have last very long without the protection anyway.

Venison hams make up for it, though.
I'm still making jerky from that 220 Buck.....Went bow hunting for some meat last night...never saw a deer. Had a bunch of yearling steers come in though.....hehe.
Got to call them turkey's up to ya! Ha!

I'm old, he was heavy and I need a handle on his heavy end to get him loaded.
I always carry that lanyard. Throw it around his ass-end and grab
it close and one front leg and you can toss those suckers anywhere!
