“I know, my ignorance on this is showing, but can someone give me a run down as to why this is unconstitutional?”

D.C. is a federally-created district, and as the hub of the government is supposed to be “neutral.” Constitutionally, only states can have voting representation.

Why stop here. Why not vote to increase the number of Senators and congressman in NY and CA, and decrease the amounts in TX.

I think we, like Caesar and his army, have crossed the Rubicon. We’re in deep dodo.

It seems that the soap box has failed, and the ballot box has failed. That leaves just one more box.

Voinovich (R-OH), Yea

That would be 6 turncoat Republican Senators.

Why wasn’t Washington, (DC), made part of the state of Maryland, way back when?

Because the framers didn't want one state having undue influence over the national seat of government via the state legislature and law enforcement.

It was a move about on par with restricting legions from entering Rome.

Well they got another rep for Utah in exchange so it shouldn’t effect the balance.

And I see an argument for either not taxing them or else giving them representation.

Why does Utah get an extra Representative? If DC gets another vote, shouldn't some other state lose a Representaive? What the heck is going on here?

Thanks for your answer.

I doubt that would have been a problem, would it? Unless, were Washington been made part of Marylandback then, Annapolis might have become a power magnet or a corruption magnet, much different than what it currently is?

Sorry, I’m not familiar with the history of Rome. Could you please explain?

Needs an amendment to work

The socialists are in total control of the Government and are wiping their asses with the Constitution.

THEY HAVE DECLARED WAR ON THE CONSTITUTION.

This is bigger than the 2 TRILLION DOLLARS they have stolen.

People need to take to the streets.

I doubt that would have been a problem, would it?

Back then there were only 13 states and each of them were very jealous of state versus federal power. Each state back then would have been concerned that the first state with the national seat might have become the metropole (ruling state) of an empire with the other states as the peripheries(subject states). The USA of 1787 was a lot closer to a federation of smaller nations (states) than anything else.

As far as the Legions in Rome? The Senate kept the legions out of Rome proper to prevent a consul (aka General) from conquering Rome and becoming a tyrant. It was a check against military power. DC was a check against the states power for the federal government.

Now DC happens to be metropole of the Washington DC Empire and everywhere else is a periphery state (the states). It's exactly what the founders feared.

“Six Republican senators, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, both of Maine, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Richard Lugar of Indiana, Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and George Voinovich of Ohio, voted for the measure today”.

“Think conservative NOT Republican.”

“CONSTITUTION”

I’m with you - It’s a quote, not my own language.

Byrd already wrote to the WH to complain that the unconfirmed White House Czars are an inappropriate overreach by the executive branch. That old Kleagle had better take care; Rahm Emanuel may see that Byrd ends up like Toot.

.

It starts off after two SCOTUS Justices have suddenly gone to room temperature

We have longtime members of the federal government who are determined to flaunt the US Constitution and destroy America before they retire quietly or expire from natural causes

They are Hussein O’Bummer’s enablers and co-conspirators and the enemy of liberty

Problem now is -— conservatives don’t riot. We need some brushfire rioting at the offices of Congress and SC. We needed it when Kelo was decided. When Roe v. Wade came down. We don’t do it. Too civilized.

Lol, which can be pretty cold! I recall that Julia ‘someone’ was in the movie. Roberts! It was a great book, all his books are.

Something bad is happening every day it seems and I can’t fix it. My dog just tore the scab off his incision, that’s about all I can deal with now
