They’re called training flights. They did them during the Cold War, too. No biggie.
Back then the American pilots used to get as close as they could and then open up a copy of Playboy in the canopy to the centerfold and let the Russians see what an American girl looked like. Back then Playboy was contraband and you couldn’t take it into the Soviet Union.
Nowadays there’s a Russian language version of Playboy, so if the Americans do that the Russians have something to show back.
