I'm not sure how that would happen if it was still illegal under federal law.

Exactly. Remember that the AG was talking about policy, not law. For raids on coffee shops in California to stop he just has to make a call down to the DEA. This is the marijuana equivalent of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Throwing marijuana people a bone, but not fixing the legal conflict. I am against legalizing drugs, but this legal impasse should not be constitutional.

Another example is work place immigration raids. Counter to what the amnesty people tell the public, work place raids require a warrant justified by probable cause. That means a lot of case work by the agents. ICE just pulled the first work place enforcement raid under the new administration. Napolitano ordered a full review of the raid. Sounds like another policy will come down and ICE will be out of the work place raid business, as well. No law has been changed, just agency policy.

I believe the info I have seen shows 2nd generation clones and on do shave the first 2 or so weeks off of flower. There was some genetic explanation as to why it matured faster than the mother. I could be mistaken though.

Sorry about the PM earlier, hit the wrong button!

Oh, Baby...but that Federal Cash is Sweeeeeeet! Like milk from your Mother’s bosom. And the Feds were smart enough (or just EVIL enough) to tie Federal Funding to lots of things...helmet laws, seat belt laws, insurance laws, liquor laws and taxes, gasoline taxes in turn for fixing roads with federal cash...you name it!

When they wanted the states to raise their drinking age to 21, Vermont held out.

When the Feds threatened to remove Vermont’s highway funding, Vermont countered by saying that if that was attempted, Vermont would confiscate ALL Federal Revenue collected in the state, and divert it to state coffers.

The Federal Government backed down...then Howard Dean caved in after he became governor.

Things like that could easily be done. Nothing the government can do about it.

i once heard Newt Gingrich (who i have no respect for as a man at all) posit an interesting solution to a run away court system: Simply disestablish the offending court. The Judge(s) would remain such, but having no court to rule from, they'd be effectively neutered.

Quicker and easier than impeaching them, and there's a lot you can do to a government office holder without charging them with a crime. Some of the founding fathers have argued that in the commission of their office, they have NO rights at all.

DISCLAIMER: While i'm a Libertarian, and don't believe that prohibition is legitimate, I DESPISE DRUGS.

I don’t think the state will be satisfied with just sales tax.

i think you're right, but it's not a unique situation. Look at what has been done with tobacco.

Like any other revenue stream, tax it too much, and you dry it up, and promote illegal activity...black market cigarettes, etc.

Exactly. Case in point:

After Canada raised its tax on cigarettes sharply, it became so highly profitable to smuggle cigarettes into the country that tax revenues dropped. The high tax promoted smuggling and the government lost all the taxes on the smuggled cigarettes.

As soon as Canada lowered its tax on cigarettes, bootlegging dropped and tax revenues increased.

Russia under Putin:

He cut taxes, and cut into the revenues of the Russian Mafia. Increased government Revenues.

Funny, Russia has Ronald Reagan’s tax system (actually, Steve Forbes, it’s a flat tax), America has Karl Marx’s tax system.

Yep, they’re doing it the gutless way, not trying to get Congress to go along and change the law. All too typical for the Executive these days.
