Rush Limbaugh calls on conservatives to take back nation
CNN ^ | February 28, 2009 | Staff

Posted on 03/01/2009 3:11:17 AM PST by Scanian

Rush Limbaugh brought a cheering crowd to its feet several times Saturday in Washington as he called on fellow conservatives to take back the country in the keynote speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

"We conservatives have not done a good enough job of just laying out basically who we are because we make the mistake of assuming that people know. What they know is largely incorrect, based on the way we're portrayed in pop culture, in the drive-by media, by the Democrat party," the conservative talk show host told a mostly-young crowd of energized supporters.

"We want every American to be the best he or she chooses to be. We recognize that we are all individuals. We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independent. We believe that the preamble of the Constitution contains an inarguable truth, that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life, liberty, freedom. And the pursuit of happiness," he said, pausing several times for enthusiastic applause.

Looking ahead to the 2012 election, Limbaugh said conservatives will have to choose the right candidate to take the country back.

I’m looking for an inferno. It has to happen. It must happen. This is just the beginning.

Imbeciles like that remind me of some of the trolls we have around here. Makes you wonder what their true motives are, doesn’t it?

Here in Tampa we have a street called Armenia Ave which is lined with numerous Colombian businesses, nearly all of which are owned by paisas. Remind me a bit of the early Cuban refugees, industrious and conservative.

I’ve listened to Rush for over 18 years and I agree with you concerning Glenn Beck.

Beck seems to be taking the fight right to Obama in a more intense way whereas Rush has become more inside the beltway.

I don’t think Rush grasps the undertow that is growing that is the driving force behind guns and ammo sales. There are reports of shortages in both firearms and ammo.

I tried to buy some 12 ga ammo online and the ammo was backordered until May 29th. The round has a .65 caliber slug with 6 double 00’s in a 6 point star patteren. It’s a crowd pleaser.

“Who is John Galt?”

Ayn Rands book Atlas Shurgged sold over 200,000 copies last year and sales are increasing. A recent report posted here on FR stated that over 8 percent of Americans have read the book and this number is growing.

You are right ... I needed some more coffee lol

Glad to see Glenn Beck on the boob tube.

Makes us laugh as I have a few scotches and the wife is making dinner.

I too am a Rush listener since '88 when I was picking up my youngest son from high school, (long story) and found him on the radio.

Problem I found is that one needs to listen to him for a while to get to understand his humor.

I thought his speech was excellent, and was very happy it was on nation wide. Like you stated ... get the message out!

You are correct, but the real problem lies in the fact that if the states that allow this cross over voting do not change their laws to prevent it, we will always be stuck with whichever lame candidate they choose for us.

“B. Are you suggesting that because this gent is former
military that no one may disagree with his assertion?”

Now did I say that? No.

What I did say was that calling his patriotism into question
because of his correct assertion was uncalled for.

I believe this man has proven his unquestionable patriotism.

I said that he had “earned” the right to say these things
and what I meant by this was that he has been endowed his
right to speak by our creator, God. But when one applies
his own blood to that right in combat, he or she has double
stamped it. That's just my opinion and if you don't agree with it, it's of no concern to me.

I don't need CNN to hear what “the enemy” is saying. I got an office full of them. Rush, or Jindal makes a speech, or maybe Palin makes a comment, and the next morning its, “did you here what that idiot said last night?, followed by laughter, and joking. I have to put up with this every morning. Thankfully the biggest instigator of this is retiring later this year.

Hi, no, she's "Cachaca" from the city - Bogota. She's from a very conservative Catholic family. She actually had more influence on me politically than I on her.

Look around friend..
Do YOU see ANY cause for optimism?

I think of myself as a rational pragmatist.
The ONLY thing I'm "optimistic" about is the knowledge things will get MUCH worse before enough folks get mad enough to do what is necessary --- and it ain't going to be pretty.

"You really ought to at least listen to the speech before you complain about what was or was not in it."

I listened to the entire speech - and some parts twice.

My "complaining" is not about the speech - but the fact that Rush is delusional if he thinks the "folks" I'm talking about will ever spit out the government tit, quit their slovenly ways, pull their pants up to their waste, get an education, quit dope, get a job, forsake their gang banging ways, stop selling their asses for crack and become law abiding productive members of society...

Look about. When you look into the faces of the third world illegal aliens, and broodmare bastard punks overrunning your town - can you really imagine them as the kind of neighbors YOU grew up with, just a few generations ago?

Trust me...I understand completely. He has a right to say what he wants. However, I find most Americans to be far more optimistic, in that their steady glow of patriotism within is beginning to burn and rage very BRIGHTLY (precisely due to some very UN-American activities within the ranks of our own government)! ;-)

"This is a "300" time"

The very instant it becomes acceptable public behavior to carry a weapon and shoot any invading or misbehaving miscreant I come across between the eyes -- THEN I will agree.

As it is -- I am COMPELLED by force of government enforced laws to refrain from destroying my enemy, and in fact am COMPELLED by the same force to SUPPORT my enemy and refrain from even verbally challenging or insulting them...

Now tell me, how is THAT a "300 time" ?

My parents were both LEGAL Greek immigrants, my mother from Sparta - I think I would know a "300 time" --- and this isn't it --- yet.

When it is -- call me and I'll be there.

"I'm not about to concede that some sort of critical mass has been achieved, and the majority of people are of that sort."

Well - they have achieved MAJORITY representation in the House and Senate and have moved their ineligible black racist and narcissistic poseur into the White House.

Take a look at many of our major cities - where they clearly have held "critical mass" and directed the death spiral of those cities into the abbess..... with enough momentum to effect the entire state. My own state of Kalifornicate is facing bankruptcy as a result the "enemy" gaining "critical mass".

They are using their current grasp of power to enact legislation and spending to further consolidate their position and strengthen their grasp on power - while at the same time doing everything necessary to weaken the free market forces and individual freedoms necessary to our society..

When would YOU consider them as having achieved "critical mass" -- after the frog in tepid water has been boiled to terminal condition, consumed and converted to fecal matter?

One person's pessimism is another person's acknowledgment of reality.

But then, lots of folks go though life in a constant state of denial -- because it doesn't require risk or action.

For someone who claims to have listened to the speech, you missed the part where he addressed this: "If you want to make the best of yourself, feel free. If you want to ruin your life, we'll try to stop it, but it's a waste."

I think you're missing my point...
Rush was preaching to the choir and his adoring fans, of which I am one..
There is NOTHING Rush could say that can CHANGE anything, without a majority of Americans coming to their senses..
Currently that appears to be the "Bridge Too Far", in my opinion.

I'm of the opinion - forged by nearly 70 years of observation - that this country has in fact reached the point where there are far too many subhumans and welfare leaches who WANT to be dependent upon Government and view our concept of self sufficiency and self reliance as "being white" or being a sucker....and will NEVER change.
Obama's bailout of wrongfully granted mortgage holders confirms the "sucker" charge, doesn't it?.

In many cases - they CAN'T change.. They're too damned ignorant and brain fried to change.

Obviously, they're joined and being used by enough of like thinking Leftists, Marxists, Perverts, Drug Users, Abortionists, black Racists and multiple other scalawags and miscreants to have achieved a majority position in our Republic which foolishly granted the vote to the undeserving and failed to protect the sanctity and integrity of the ballot box..

We are experiencing a real life scenario of the inmates seizing control of the Insane Asylum......and we're still trying to be polite and unoffensive...

To add insult to injury - these same bastards are screaming for MORE....and accusing those who wish to refuse as Racists, Capitalists, Greedy Rich, UnAmerican, anti Immigration, anti Unionists, etc, etc, etc........

I pray for the day Americans FINALLY wake up and scream BULLSHIT at the top of their lungs and react in a manner ordained by our founders.

I think that we came VERY close to it last night... If you watched carefully once his speech was over, during the award presentation, he appeared to be very close to tearing up at least twice: The first time when they announced that the document they were presenting him was signed by Benjamin Franklin (and pretty much said that he was "our" Franklin, today), and then when they said, "Yes, this is the real thing." Also, did you notice how Rush made light of it and quickly got off stage? That's WAY out of character for Rush - the ducking off stage part. I am pretty sure he needed to get off-stage as quickly as possible, because he didn't want to give the leftist enemy any sort of ammunition to use against him showing "weakness."

When would YOU consider them as having achieved "critical mass"

The "critical mass" to which I referred would be when we get past the point of "no turning back." I hope that's not the case, but someday, who knows. I think that day will be evident when the government elite no longer even try to pay "lip service" to the Constitution.

I agree with you completely. And if we can get "real conservatives" elected into local and state positions, we well as the house and senate, people who can state, for the record, what conservatism is, then there's still hope. I honestly believe that the reasons the republicans lost their majority in the house and senate was because they abandoned conservatism, and became the "party of not quite as big government." A lot of conservatives stayed home during this last election cycle. A lot of Libertarians (big and small) either sat it out, or in a Randian hope of helping to hasten the end, voted for the dems. Because the republicans really didn't give us anyone to vote FOR.

Rush said that the "default" for people is towards freedom and liberty. I agree. Unfortunately, far too many are willing to take the easy path, when promises are made. But I still believe that the vast majority would be willing to vote conservative if only a decent candidate were run, and there was a good voicing of the sort of things Rush had to say last night.

"Rush said that the "default" for people is towards freedom and liberty."

One of a few wise comments Ross Perot ever uttered - "The Devil is in the details"

What Rush said was true of the "Greatest Generation".
They KNEW the true definition and cost of Freedom and Liberty.
We are no longer like or even similar to that generation.
The "Feedom and Liberty" desired by the proven majority of our current generation is something quite different.

Our schools, K thought University are filled with Leftist indoctrinating Union stalwarts - who to this day heap scorn on all acts of war unless that war is fought to increase abortions, legalize Gay marriage, fight man caused global warming, save the whales, rescue the seals, give a free bilingual education to every illegal immigrant, grant citizenship rights to illegal aliens, save the spotted owl, stop oil from flowing out of American oil wells, protect trees from the dreaded ax man, end capital punishment, civil rights for uncivil miscreants, free the murderous Islamists from Gitmo, build prayer rooms for Muslims in our schools and shopping centers, remove the 10 commandments from our Public Building and Schools, etc, etc, etc...
You must get my drift...

As if that isn't bad enough - too many "parents" are unfit to claim the name or right... Youngsters are being raised by incompetent, immoral, degenerate, sub human garbage - and we wonder why we have so many "problem kids" and young offenders. Hell, "Johnny" can't read because he never saw a book before the 1st grade -- and neither his mommy or unknown daddy can read well enough to hold down even a menial job! Yet - we PAY these folks to have kids!

Clearly OUR generation is unwilling to "default" to Liberty and Freedom" if that goal is defined as personal responsibility for one's circumstance, sovereignty of our borders and culture, adherence to the Constitution as written and the end of the unconstitutional practice of stealing from Peter to pay Paul. Government should NEVER be allow to decide who "deserves" the sweat of your brow. That decision should be held by you and you alone.

In the final analysis....I believe good old Rush is whistling past the cemetery --- hope the sound will scare off the goblins...
I prefer to remain silent, since I KNOW the goblins are present and dangerous - carry a weapon and slay the goblins.

But that's just me.... I'm like the guy whose only tool is a hammer and wants to treat all problems like nails..... and pound the hell out of them....

Training is hard to overcome.....

While I'm fascinated to learn that your mother is from Sparta, and both parents are Greek immigrants, I'm curious as to how you think this would make you "know" whether or not this would be a "300" time. Do you think culture is a genetic "thing" or the result of active choice?

I love hearing news like this, stockpirate! :)

In 1993, my family and I attended Dan's Bake Sale in Fort Collins, CO. Our youngest was barely out of a stroller. We arrived at the Bake sale (and truly, it was an amazing event, from the moment we left our home in a Tioga), and cameras came right up to us, and press chatted with us. We were the California Bay Area Conservatives. At that time, it was shocking news that ANYONE from the San Francisco Bay Area "might" be a conservative; but there we were. Me in my pro-life T-shirt, hubby in his Christ-The-King T-shirt; all our children in fine fettle. And there we were showing up on a Tom Brokow segment - to the amazement and discontent of those we knew around the nation.

We came back sporting a "WHO IS JOHN GALT? ASK RUSH" bumpersticker.

I would get locked in by other cars at parking lots. In stopped commute traffic, people were jetting out of their cars to talk to me on highways. Every where, people were in shock, rushing to meet us. At times it was really unnerving, that look of desperation in the eyes of fellow conservatives as they'd excitedly introduce themselves, and long shake my hand. "We are here! We may be white, we may be Republican, we may even be ugly, BUT THANK GOD WE ARE HERE!"

I carried url addresses, email addresses, flyers, network contacts, phone numbers with me, all carefully organized to give to folks. lol! These were the early years. The keying, the nails in the tires, the smashed windows -- well, those came in the later years.

No one told me to do this, or even instructed me back then. I just could NOT bear knowing so many people felt so disenfranchised and alone. I hated the chimera, lies, and thefts of liberals and their liberalism.

Individuals, Constitutionalists, Conservatives needed to know each other, and stand together. We had been divided by liberalism through our daily practices of accountability and self-responsibility -- each of us living our lives and meeting our obligations, but we'd been picked apart and each made as "targets" by liberals. We needed to band together.

And so, things began to happen. In my area.

Stock, I read "Atlas Shrugged" when I was 12. I didn't understand a lot of it. So, I read it again when I was 15. I understood more. And through the years, I'd re-read the book. In the early 90s, my husband was horribly shaken up by "things" happening in our locale, and to him. He needed a break. And we knew we needed to leave the area. I sent him to Montana on a break/look-see adventure, and I packed "Atlas Shrugged" into his luggage.

He began reading it. About his 4th night in Montana, he was in Helena. His mind was blown. This good man was having a major epiphany. Things he hadn't understood. Things which his fine, intellectual brain could not piece together, and which burdened his heart became clear, and through reading "Atlas Shrugged".

Well, we did try to sell our home and move to Montana. Real Estate in CA fell into the toilet and no one was selling real estate. The next 10 years of what we went through, what we fought, what we witnessed and endured, is the stuff of novels.

We knew then, as we know now, God wanted us exactly right where we were, for His reasons. And looking back? Yep, He was right.

Hey jla! :) Thank you for saying so!

As Rush would say: "I know every inch of my naked body..." (lol), I'm telling the absolute truth in what I've written in this thread.

Of course, moving this country to its founding and where it needs to be is something we can definitely do. I've been in hell, and I've seen the miracles. The San Francisco Bay Area is a dynomite place to learn how liberals wish to see the entirety of the U.S. The experience is nightmarish and unbelievable. And now the nation is rocking and quaking, feeling the same tremors of fear and loathing at what has come down upon them.

I'm here to tell every and anyone listening and reading: This is doable.

First, realize the psychologic war being daily waged upon you. Make up your mind: Decide to win, and you will win. Do it smartly, and with class. Do it civilly, and more join in with you. Be ready. Drop your ego at the curb. And.. make up your mind to simply address your own personal universe - that which comprises your little reality world. Be real and clear in that. It has a tendency to galvanize and awaken those in proximity.

"I'm curious as to how you think this would make you "know" whether or not this would be a "300" time."

Lady, (an assumption on my part) I don't need to be Greek to KNOW this is not "300 time". However, as both an experienced warrior and of Greek heritage - I can recognize this nation is not fully committed to any war for any purpose. To say we are now at "300 time" is a foolish exaggeration on your part. The only real war being fought now, is by Leftist politicians and their electorate against the Constitution and Capitalism.

If you have forgotten your comment, permit me to direct you to your own Post #16 where you issued the call to arms:
"It's "300" time. Raise your shield, shake your spear. It's how the best parts of history have happened. And it's now. Again."

Are you inciting insurrection?
Are you calling for armed rebellion against the state?
Exactly who are you calling for us to shove spears into?

Permit me to explain "300 time" - That is when a few warriors laid down their life to protect the many by killing thousands who had invaded their homeland...

If you're calling for a killing spree -- please send YOUR family to the front, mine has done more than our share of killing and dying for a country I currently no longer recognize and who no longer recognizes the principals for which those sacrifices were laid down.

Once folks have STARTED the violence to RESTORE that which has been lost - I'll join if able. Not until then.
I'm a very old man now - so it will have to come soon if you expect my help.

So, are you and those like you with the "go git em" attitude, going to lead, follow or hide when the real fighting starts?

To answer your post, I'd have to answer a question which is implied in your post. That question is: Do I think an armed insurrection will happen over the next few years. No, I don't. Do I think it is possible AQ/terrorists will attempt to strike? Yes, I do. They know how fully inept this newer administration is, how weak, and how they will serve to destroy valuable policies and laws just to punish "America" and "Americans".

But putting that side for the sake of this argument, for now, were it to come down to it, would I take up arms? Absolutely, yes. Have I put myself in harms way to put forward the conservative message? Time and Time again, and in the public eye. Have I endured the consequences of battling the liberal oligarchy? Yes. Have I been assaulted personally? Yes. Did I fight back? Yes. Have I ever stood alone amid a maddened crowd? Yes.

Now, have I ever fought in a military war. No. Have I proven to myself that I would take up arms for my country? Without a doubt, yes.

I think it is good that folks are ensuring they are able to physically protect themselves against assault; or even an invasion. Do I think liberals in bureacracies and in office will openly declare war on Americans. No. That's not how liberals work. They know Americans would rise up like an angry viper, and all the "power" the liberals think they have would float away like so much flatulence.

What they are doing now, IME, is creating the "stage" for what they'd like to accomplish but without ever being honest or direct about it. They'd like to see mass hysteria. For while a population is in mass hysteria, they'll pass all kinds of idiocies, and because no one is paying attention. They are too preoccupied with.. screaming, running, being frightened, being angry, and acting out. And those who act out will be pinned as people like you and me.

Liberals like the cover of madness in order to perpetrate their agenda - laughing clowns, and predatory teachers in bowties and Hello-Kitty hair ware.

The Story of the "300" begins first in the mind and heart and in the training. All that came afterwards is the result of the former.

It's not "showtime" yet, by my estimates. I think training season has just begun.

Lastly, okay, you want my bone fides. Every generation of men and women on both my parents' sides, and in multiple countries, have fought militarily for liberty. My dad went to war when he was 16; not 17 as he told me. I found his records. He fought in WWII and in Korea, was commissioned for recon in Vietnam but was not permitted as my mother was given a terminal cancer life sentence. One brother served. My daughter served, Afghanistan Spring 2002. My son is active duty. My sil is active duty. Why didn't I serve? My dad. He encouraged me to fight in the frontlines of American's Downtown for Liberty. He thought it was exactly where America's enemy had taken a foothold. And he was right. And there I was.

People say they don't want war. But when they support policies and politicians who make bad policy, inhibit capitalism, inhibit natural pursuits of happiness and wellbeing which contributes to the safety and wellness, the progress of any and all "communities", these people create the environment for WAR. The fight remains, foremost, locally. Win that. Win there. Then, perhaps, and only then might we see a time when our loved ones are not sent off to fight a military war which is always created when bad policies are set to motion, locally, grown to statewide levels, then grown to national levels. Then, there is war. Because the fractions spread outside our borders.

Show me a liberal who says he hates war, and I'll show you man (or woman) who helped create the grounds for War and the deaths of many American lives, and the lives of others in other countries.

Socialism murders.

True...but I assure you that I am in NO state of denial. I see clearly what is happening. However, I intend to fight it....and WIN! ;-)

I have always been both a realist and....an optimist.
