AP MOSCOW – If you're inclined to believe Igor Panarin, and the Kremlin wouldn't mind if you did, then President Barack Obama will order martial law this year, the U.S. will split into six rump-states before 2011, and Russia and China will become the backbones of a new world order.
Panarin might be easy to ignore but for the fact that he is a dean at the Foreign Ministry's school for future diplomats and a regular on Russia's state-guided TV channels. And his predictions fit into the anti-American story line of the Kremlin leadership.
"There is a high probability that the collapse of the United States will occur by 2010," Panarin told dozens of students, professors and diplomats Tuesday at the Diplomatic Academy — a lecture the ministry pointedly invited The Associated Press and other foreign media to attend.

The system that works for me is to search on the most uncommon single word in a title. E.g., for this thread --"scholar" or "collapse".
The idiot who made this prediction says that the southeastern US from North Carolina to Arizona will be taken over by Mexico and that the north central US will be taken over by Canada and that Alaska will “revert” to Russia. The guy is delusional.

Anything east of the Hudson River for one, anything west of the Sierras for another, Hawaii to the Japanese, Alaska on its own; South Florida on its own; the rest could probably stick together if the urban areas were cleaned up.
agreed. the crazy thing is I no longer regard this as impossible. There has been a stealth coup in the US government, and along with a collapse of the financial system, the two could certainly cause some serious unrest.
