My Beef With Ann Coulter
Daily Beast ^ | Megan McCain

Posted on 03/09/2009 11:41:50 AM PDT by pissant

It is no secret that being a Republican isn’t the most hip political stance a person can take right now. President Obama has successfully established himself as the hippest politician around. You know you’re big when Katy Perry wears a dress with your face on it to host the MTV Europe Music Awards. To my fellow Republicans: I’m sorry, I wish I could be more positive about the current “hipness” of our party. But being a Republican is about as edgy as Donny Osmond. Granted, being “hip” is not a reason to join a political party, or a reason to agree with its ideals. But it is a way to get the attention of a generation—or, more specifically, my generation.

To make matters worse, certain individuals continue to perpetuate negative stereotypes about Republicans. Especially Republican women. Who do I feel is the biggest culprit? Ann Coulter. I straight up don’t understand this woman or her popularity. I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time. But no matter how much you or I disagree with her, the cult that follows Coulter cannot be denied. She is a New York Times best-selling author and one of the most notable female members of the Republican Party. She was one of the headliners at the recent CPAC conference (but when your competition is a teenager who has a dream about the Republican Party and Stephen Baldwin, it’s not really saying that much).

This girl actually has these thoughts meandering around inside her mind and wonders why she doesn't understand Ann Coulter or Coulter's popularity? LOL

A hearty FU to the writer.

Ann tells it like it is, and there really aren’t many around that stand a chance in a battle of words with her... At least in packs of 5 or less.

Don’t shoot me, but I voted for Bill Clinton when I was 19. Yeah yeah yeah, I have learned my lesson, but he did go on MTV... and he was cooler than that guy who couldn’t even run a grocery store scanner...

You get where I’m going with this? Cut her a tad of slack. Some of us were young and dumb.

Have you read any of her books? If you call the truth "shock value," then I might agree with you.

Here's a Coulter classic on Bush's support of amnesty: Bush's America: Roach Motel. Plenty of shock [truth] and plenty of meat.

“I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time.” I find Megan McCain to be a ditz. Seriously, what does she bring to the Republican table but a Republican-lite dose of the personal destruction of other Republicans? Ann, on the other hand, is part of the “cult” that has been fighting to keep the Republican Party out in front since before little Megan was potty trained. Tell us Megan, what do you believe in. What is your vision for the Republican Party, your philosophy, your suggestions for policies. Do you have something to contribute that will work, or do you imitate liberals and smear the enemy? Most of all Megan, can’t you find something useful to do before you get into politics?

It’s not speculation that she dated Andrew or Bob, it’s absolutely true. She even mentioned it when she was interviewed by that chick from the View subbing for Larry King the other week. The only speculation is Bill Maher.

“Ann’s thin, hot, and immensely popular with Conservative men...

and I’m not.”

Hot? I will never understand how anyone can think that lady is hot. She’s kind of a blond Olive Oil from the Popeye cartoon to me and she has a really nasty disposition. She can be witty and smart, but could you imagine being married to someone like her? Pretty soon she’s going to get mad at you about something you do or fail to do and you will never hear the end of it from her. I could never be married to someone like her. I’d put her on the street in no time.

She is thin and popular. “Hot” is a big stretch though.

“’Hot’ is a big stretch though.”

This judgement requires a trial by jury, I think.

the cult that follows Coulter cannot be denied

That "cult" is composed of people with brains, something that you apparently haven't grown yet, Megan.

It takes experience, and knowledge, and learning the issues and deep examination of the issues, and learning the history of the issues. It's not about issuing empty rhetoric, such as you are, Megan. It take wisdom and experience to get to the level of a Coulter or a Limbaugh, or to get to the level of those that "follow" a Coulter or a Limbaugh.

You, my dear Megan, have a lot of maturing to do and a lot of learning to do. You need to get out of the sheltered life you've had up till now and go out into the real world. Until you get to that point, it's best that you stick with the ignorant that elected "the one" which you seem to admire so much.

Perhaps sometime in your future, you'll wake up and ask yourself, "how could I have been so stupid?". I know, I used to be exactly like you when I was in my teens and early 20s.

My guess Meghan has taken a leaf out of her old man’s book

She's more like a "maverick in training". What's that people say? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree?

I always find it amazing after all this time that people don’t “get” Ann Coulter, she baits dummies with dripping sarcasm and brutal truths, speaking with the bluntness of a truck driver and the rapier wit of a great comedian.

She has never offeneded my tender sensibilities ONCE, everything “controversial” she says is wrapped in double-entendre’s, sarcasm, and lays bare the hypocrisies of the left.

She’s playing chess and her detractors are playing checkers. It’s like she’s dealing with spoiled, crying children who say don’t say “it” again, she looks at them and says the word “it” and they go running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off.

If she was a liberal writer/comedian she would be celebrated as one of the greatest thinkers in the country.

Cut her a tad of slack. Some of us were young and dumb.

She is not the average kid. She is the daughter of a US Senator and was on the stump for her father for months. If she doesn't get it, then it has more to to with being dumb than young. The fact that she admitted voting for Kerry gives you an idea as to where she is coming from. I am not about to give her any more slack than I would Ron Reagan Jr.
