How your brain creates God? (Evos try to reduce God to natural by-product of how brain works)
CMI ^ | March 10, 2009 | Adrian Bates

Posted on 03/10/2009 10:32:03 AM PDT by GodGunsGuts

The journal New Scientist has recently run an article called Born Believers: How your brain creates God (especially in hard financial times)1… Towards the latter end of the article is a disclaimer that ‘All the researchers involved stress that none of this says anything about the existence or otherwise of gods.’ However, the tenor of the article, including the title, militates strongly that the author’s preferred reality is that, yes folks, “your brain creates God.”

The article initially suggests that “God” is created in our brains as a result of “an evolutionary adaptation that makes people more likely to survive”. However it then points out that this theory is not accepted by many in the evolutionary community. Blithely over-riding this hiccup, it then launches into an alternate, conflicting theory that “religion emerges as a natural by-product of the way the human mind works”...

==No, I said your debate.

Here are your exact words: “The never ending crevo debate is NOT news.”

==No soup for you.

Why am I not surprised that you sound just like a guard straight out of Gulag Archipelago?

In case you haven’t noticed, the right to present the scientific arguments contained in the articles I post are being played out in school boards, court rooms, and even the presidential debates, all across the country and the world.

1) Avoid the hard answer.
2) quote out of context
3) resort to ‘cartoony’ Nazi or communists name calling.

I guess you have to work a little harder on walking the walk.

PS: you must be about 105 years old to know exactly what a ‘guard straight out of Gulag Archipelago’ sounds like, or is your world really only 3500 years old?
Oh wait.. Methuselah made it to just a little over 900...

What you completely miss is I could care less about your view on evolution or creation - you're free to believe whatever you want. I'm just suggesting that you reconsider where it gets posted to reach a wider audience of interested parties.

I would say it is you who are avoiding the hard questions, let alone the obvious answers. Could that be why you get so upset when someone gives God credit for His own creation? Something to think about, anyway...

Then why do the brains of believes and nonbelievers look the same?

You assume I am upset with your view, despite direct evidence to the contrary.

The oldest known translation of genesis starts with “In A Beginning”, which implies “many beginnings”, and continues with the story of the “Days of God” the length of which were incomprehensible, and unknowable by man until the 6th...

You see, I can debate both sides of this issue all day, but only your choice is in question, not your position or belief structure.

You tend to make far too many knee-jerk assumptions and create fallacious “facts” out of them.

I doesn't do much to bolster your insistence on shoving your ideas down everyones throat.

You sound very conflicted. When you finally resolve the debate with yourself, let me know which side won.

How very reductionist of you.

It is you that is grasping at every straw to obtain tangible proof of that which can only be solved by faith.

I feel sorry for you.

No need for anyone to “grasp at straws.” God’s hand in creation is obvious to all except those who spend their whole lives trying to hide from him. And don’t feel sorry for me, for my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,

19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities— his eternal power and divine nature— have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools

"54% of americans elected Obama President”

“46% of americans believe in UFO’s”

So what’s your point?

You posted nonsense about creationism hurting the image of FR, clearly it's the other way around, but liberals project alot.

I see no quotes from JimRob..

You will.

crevo belongs in ‘religion’, not news. - or won’t the RMOD put up with your trolling?

I didn't post the article confucius. And you liberals don't get to dictate where conservative values belong or don't belong on FR.

Why do you think the way brains look has anything to do with free will?

If such a link exists why would God stop some from having it?

Who said that God would stop someone from having it? Just because someone has it, doesn't mean that they have to use it.

Why try to blame God? There's free will, you know.

I see no quotes from JimRob.

JR made quite a good post about the crevo debates and FR's position on God and conservatism. I know someone has posted it fairly recently but don't recall who it was.

If whoever has it could provide it for xcamel, that would be nice.

No, actually I’m responding to your flame/nonsense that creationism damages FR.

You have a very short attention span don’t you?

Debate on church doctrine and or threads on specific religious matters may be best posted in the religion forum, but the defense of religious freedom, especially against those who wish to deprive us of same belongs front and center on FR.

They banned God and prayer and creationism from public schools and public places, but I’ll be damned if they’re gonna ban Him or it from FR!

Excellent, and one would think the liberals would understand this by now!
