Bristol Palin breaks up with fiance Levi Johnston
Herald Sun ^ | 12 March 2009

SARAH Palin's teenage Bristol has broken off her engagement to Levi Johnston two months after the birth of their child.

The 18-year-old daughter of the Alaskan Governor told the Associated Press (AP) she was "devastated" by the split.

"Unfortunately, my family has seen many people say and do many things to 'cash in' on the Palin name," she said in a statement.

"Sometimes that greed clouds good judgment and the truth."

Mr Johnston, 19, told AP the pair had mutually decided to end their relationship.

Bristol Palin's pregnancy was announced last summer days after her mother was named John McCain's running mate on the Republican presidential ticket.

Bill Handel is kinda like a Michael Smerconish. He calls himself a “conservative”, but endorses Democrats and attacks Republicans.

Where is Ziegler these days?

Michael Savage joined the moonbats today trashing the Palin family, comparing them to the low life perps on the Cops Show.

I have seen life go very well for people who marry very young, so I don’t think there was anything automatically wrong with the idea of their getting married at that age. However, frankly, I can’t imagine that this could have worked because of all the pressure they were under. It’s hardly standard practice for two teenagers to be the subject of ridicule, slander, and vicious attacks coming from everything ranging from the national press to late night comedians, and I think it’s a wonder that they got through it as well as they did.

I hope things go well for both of them.

WHO GIVES A FLYING ****?

The idea that this is even a news story at all is testimony to the partisan disgrace that our media has become.

No biggie?

Sorry to disagree. it’s a sad future for a child from a broken home.

The statistics are not in the babe’s favor.

“So????”

I somehow doubt this would be getting this kind of response were this some Hollwyood-bred clueless liberal.

In 1960, 5% of all pregnancies were born out-of-wedlock. That number has now ballooned to 69.4% of black births, 42.6% of Hispanic births, 24% of white births, and 16% of Asian births (as of the 2004 data).

While making an incident out of one birth is not something I’m fond of, this is a national tragedy and a national problem. A big one. And I recall people on this forum embracing the pair staying together for the sake of the baby.

And now “So????” is the response? I just don’t see how you can come up with that kind of response and embrace a pro-family agenda.

You sure got that one right - if only people would realize that before they do the deed. Can you live with the consequences of your actions????

Dad would have really benefited had he spent the summer of his junior year on Parris Island, and everybody would have been better off for it! Well, he'll have substantial monthly payments due, for the next eighteen years at least.

Wll, can’t say I’m all that surprised...

Tired of hearing about “poor Bristol”. If she’d kept her pants on this wouldn’t have happened.

Bristol has a family/network to help her and the kid out.

If Johnston’s doper mother is an indication of his side of the equation, they’re both better of without him.
