You are correct jadb. That quote wasn't exact. Here is the quote

Roberts breaks into Orly's question with, (exact quote): "Thank you, thank you very much mam. I appreciate you traveling so far. If you have particular documents that you want to leave with us I would be happy to look at them, if you leave them behind. Beyond that I obviously can't talk about any cases or applications or petitions that were made. Thank you."

Another voice says, (paraphrase) A member of the security will be glad to take the documents from you.

I have been, as a matter of fact, in an analogous way. I'm going to post a thread about his rising disapproval rate, which at last tally was 45%! That is a staggering change from two weeks ago.

I beleive that a disapproval rating of 53% is the tipping point, and the disaffected will be extremely interested in how to get rid of this guy.

Thanks for posting his actual comments.

Let’s objectively review what Roberts said in response to Orly’s comments.

Orly explains that she has travelled a long way to see him. Then she asserts that there is corruption and criminal activity in the SCOTUS. Then she gives a summary of her case, which is pending on the SCOTUS docket.

Roberts thanks Orly, presumably for her questions/comments. (i.e. He is polite.) He acknowledges that he understands how important the issue is to her. (i.e. He expresses appreciation for her willingness to travel so far to see him.) He doesn’t inflame the situation. (i.e. He doesn’t acknowledge or respond to the claims of corruption.) He establishes trust by attempting to find common ground with her. (i.e. He offers to review any documentation she provides.) Then he sets a boundary with her and effectively ends the conversation. (i.e. He indicates that he can’t discuss pending cases and thanks her again.)

Standard negotiation tactics to diffuse a potentially inflamatory situation! He was very perceptive and especially effective in addressing the issue under the circumstances.

Excellent Chief Justice material.

Unfortunately, I see nothing positive for Orly in that exchange.

Absolutely and I have been informing my friends about BO background and how it stinks to high heaven. They were not aware of the information on this chump.

they also did not know about geithner or many of the other fellow travelers.

I told them look you don't like the CFR and many of the appointments are from the CFR and other organizations like them.

It just blows them away and I mean literally, you can tell they just had the wind taken from them.

Obama is bad guy for sure but, he is a salesman. A good one as well. I admire his delivery.

We have to make sure everyone knows about him so his agenda will fail but you need to educate yourself and your friends about his team.

My next project is to start looking at the items proposed and passed and see who is or was behind them and the time line.

Spunky posted exact quote. It is very little different from what Orly posted.

You think people have photographic memories and can remember converstaions exactly verbatim? And jump down their throats if a couple of words were off, but the meaning is essentially the same? It is almost exactly what she said.

Some of you just want to find fault with anyone who is concerned about 0bama’s eligibility. Why not take your critical and fault finding attitudes and direct them at 0bama and his plans to destroy the country, instead of at conservatives who are trying to prevent him? Hmmm?

Wishful thinking?

Nope. Just realism. I'm not an Obama supporter, and I would like nothing better than to see him removed from office. But I'm a realist and I can see there's nothing to Orly's claims. The only way to get rid of Obama is to vote him out in 2012.

If Roberts really thought this were a serious issue, he wouldn't have abruptly cut her off and placated her with a meaningless promise to "look at" her papers.

Roberts realized he was dealing with a nut and acted masterfully to shut her up without creating an incident. It reasures me that we indeed have a great Chief Justice.

That's the way to deal with nuts: placate them and get them to shut up. The last thing you want is a nut going off on a long, inflamatory tirade.

Correct.... A little different is all I’m saying. We don’t need anything less than the truth as it will be the most productive in the long run. The lady is trying and hard as best I can tell but she needs to stick to the facts as they happen and not what she thinks are the facts. Sorry if you don’t like that approach but I do.

"You think people have photographic memories and can remember converstaions exactly verbatim?"

In defense of others. I don't know how old you are little jeremiah, but we were taught that you do not put quote marks around something, unless it is an exact quote. If you can't remember exactly how it was said then say it is a paraphrase.

The conversation as quoted by Orly is not materially different from the one quoted by Spunky.

You’re insinuating that she purposely misstated what was said, which is not the case, since there is very little difference, and no material difference - iow, the meaning is the same.

I have tried to remember exact conversations - even short ones like this - and it is almost impossible to remember each and every word verbatim.

Read my comment above about using your critical and fault finding skills on 0bama, not on conservatives.

I’m cutting her slack in that area since English is not her mother tongue. But you are correct, a remembered conversation that is not verbatim - even if factually correct - should not be in quotation marks.

What mischaracterization are you talking about? Mischaracterization would mean that Orly was trying to make Roberts say things he didn’t say; the only actual difference was in some of the wording, the meaning was not different.

10. I need info on Magic Plumbing aka Burlew Plumbing and the lean they had on the house of Kelly Mc Crum Robinson- Michelle Obama’s sister in law. I also need actual news paper articles about Magic Plumbing doing maintenance of sprinkler system in the World trade Center on 09.05.2001 and the articles from Nashville TN news papers about one of Magic Plumbing employees being arrested with a person working in the Nashville TN DMV who was accused of issuing fraudulent drivers licenses. (a woman, that later died under questionable circumstances). Please move fast, material is being scrubbed of the Internet awfully fast, you may need to go to the libraries and get actual papers or go to state and National Archives.

This request in particular caught my eye.

That is correct. She is going the extra mile to push the issue. That is in my opinion why she should be extra careful about what she insinuates as fact as opposed to what she recalls as the general tenor of the conversation.

Just like she wrote on her website that she flew to Tacoma, WA and drove a couple more hours to Moscow, ID. We all know that isn’t true and I don’t know if she has cleaned that up on the website or not but she should. This kind of hyperbole gets on the net and becomes fact or the basis for ridicule. That we don’t need in this case one bit.

All I’m trying to point out is facts are our friend in this case not hyperbole. I realise she doesn’t have English as her first language but that is what she is dealing with and words have meaning. More so when one is dealing in the legal arena, imo.

Take care and thanks for all you do in this regard.

That is fixed!

You are not the only one that has pointed out our mistakes. We seem to have quite a few managers.

But, may I remind you and all that we don’t do this full time. Although it has become more than full time. We also have families. Our taxes pay the people that aren’t doing their jobs, funding the grants to the ones fighting us and most of the expense of doing this is out of pocket.

Yes, donations come in; but most of it is eaten up by Orly taking one trip. The rest is all on us.

I can promise you if we were equipped, funded and staffed, there would not be as many mistakes.

I can also promise you we would all rather be doing something else.

A true story that I related yesterday to another poster: my 12 year-old grandson, Aaron, who comes from an “apolitical” home, to be charitable, spent Fri and Sat with me. He saw me reading a blog about Zer0 and he mentioned that his school voted for him by 80-20 though he could not personally understand why they liked him so much. I told him what a fake Barry is—no verifiable birth records, no college records, no law school records, no medical records, no legislative record, etc. Aaron’s immediate reaction: “Holy crap! Sombody must have programmed him!” Even young kids have enough native sense and intuition to figure out this fraud!

We’re seeing that about the same way, Ron, as we frequently do. Zer0’s already wearing out his welcome and he knows it. That’s why all the phony outrage about AIG bonuses—trying to make easy populist brownie points. If 165 mil is so infuriating, what about the 170 BILLION that he and Geithner gave to them with few strings attached? That is CRIMINAL!

My humble prediction is that once Zer0’s daily approval poll (Rasmussen) reaches negative territory and stays there for a couple weeks, interest in these cases will increase dramatically. Lately I’ve been hearing from people who “just want to get rid of him” by whatever legal means possible; he’s just “too dangerous” to the republic to stay where he is for 4 years.

No idea if this is factual:

~~~
On September 20, 2006, in a startling coincidence of similar names, Kelly J. McCrum Robinson (wife of Michelle Obama’s brother Craig Robinson) sells her Chicago condominium to a person named “Osama Barakat” for $376,500.
The property is located at 1525 S. Sangamon, Unit 707. The Cook County property parcel number is 17-20-232-050-1168.
Listed as creditor on the real estate transaction is Burlew Plumbing and Heating of New Jersey. Burlew allegedly owns Magic Touch Construction Company, located at 59 West Front Street in Keyport, New Jersey.
Located at that same address is Magic Touch Plumbing and Heating.
On September 11, 2001, Sakher “Rocky” Hammad drove from New York City to Memphis, Tennessee. Hammad was later arrested by the FBI in connection with an illegal driver’s license scheme. In Hammad’s wallet was found a security pass giving him access to the World Trade Center on September 5, 2001, and a business card for Magic Plumbing and Heating.
Hammad stated he was a plumber, and had worked with his cousin on the WTC sprinkler systems. New York authorities have no record of a plumber’s license for Hammad or his cousin. Hammad’s mother lives in Jordan or Gaza. (Some have theorized that the WTC towers collapsed because their sprinkler systems were not functioning properly.) [1186,1187,1188,1189,1190]
I agree. If this doesn't prove anything else, it clearly proves that Roberts has excellent judicial temperament. He was absolutely masterful. I have a feeling his experience as a trial attorney was on display here as well.
His performance during his confirmation hearings was exactly like this - he was unflappable, which made it so difficult for the Dems to mount any kind of serious or sustainable challenge.
Thank you. Aaron is really just a normal kid but one with no preconceived notions about politics. He has a genuine open mind. If a youngster like that can react so strongly to objective facts about Obama, wouldn’t many “casual” voters react the same way if they were exposed to the real facts surrounding “The One?” Somehow, we need to get the information to them. Exposé ads on TV and radio, timing the ads to run during programs which reflect the “popular culture” and not news shows. Anything where a new, fairly apolitical people would gain exposure to the facts about Zer0. Such people have to deal with present-day economic realities. Why not give them factual information proving that their economic future is in the hands of a fraud?
