Biden Begs: No Swimming Pools! Posted by Mark Knoller | Comments
Looking to strike fear and compliance in the hearts of local officials, Vice President Joe Biden warns that if they use money from the economic stimulus fund to build what he regards as the wrong kind of projects, Ill show up in your city and say this was a stupid idea.
No swimming pools! he implored. No tennis courts! he begged. No golf courses! he pleaded. No Frisbee parks! he exhorted.
This cant be government as usual, he told an assemblage of local officials invited to the White House from around the country.
Even if they can promise him that building their projects will create jobs and generate revenue, Biden wants none of it.
The answer is no, no, no! He said its got to pass the smell test.
He urged the officials to think about how their constituents would react if the projects they launched were plastered on the front page of their biggest local newspaper.
If it doesnt automatically make sense, dont do it!
Once the officials get funding for infrastructure, Biden said, they can do what they like with it. But he served notice that if they launch the kind of projects he deems inappropriate, he wont be shy about saying what he thinks.

Statues of Caesar obama are fine in EVERY city though!
IE, don't hire any contractors, concrete workers, lawn care companies, etc. If you work for any of these types of businesses, SOL.
Yeah I feel so much better knowing that Slo Joe is overseeing the monies!
“His badge wasnt showing, but Sheriff Biden intended to sound tough as Clint Eastwood.”
Mark Knoller is gay.
Slow Joe needs to stay out of the deep end of the Think Tank.
But dog parks and rat habitats in California are ok, right?
From a google search - on some NPR site:
“Singers, actors and dancers can stimulate audiences, but can they stimulate the economy? The authors of the current stimulus package seem to think so they have included $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts and $150 million for infrastructure repairs at the Smithsonian.
Arts groups large and small are hurting, just like every other industry: The Sacramento Ballet has canceled performances; the administrative staff of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra took a 20 percent pay cut; the Austin Museum of Art is postponing plans for a new museum downtown.....
Well this article is proof that the Obama Admin, Pelosi, Reid, and all of the Democrats had no clue what they were intending to stimulate. Just get that money out there!
We are soooooooooooo screwed.
Ill show up in your city . . . . .
Opps - I see other places that say the arts was not included in the stimulus package. Who knows!?
Well - I think the money for abortions is still in there. Other than that though I’m sure all of the money will be well spent on things crucial to our society. /s
If anything, this government is making me feel more capable all the time.
I saw a new swimming pool, a big one at that, being put in at a local club last year. All the guys building the pool were Mexican and I have a feeling that there weren't any green cards around. I think if Biden saw that, he would make a swimming pool 'exception' for one of his favorite voting blocks.
That is great - care if I use it for a tag line?
You’re taking our bread Joe. At least let us keep the circus...
I think that the only way to put the brakes on these idiots is for everyone, and I mean everyone, to sign up for food stamps, welfare, and every other government freebie possible. Jam everything up with paperwork. Sign up for every give-away program even if you are rich and the system will confuse itself and implode. Do to the socialists what Acorn did to the election process. Got a dead uncle? Sign him up for free government grave maintenence. Sell you car and apply for free government transportation vouchers.
