Obama to GM: Move over, I’m driving.
After several rounds of government assistance and missed deadlines for a plan to revive the auto giant, the White House on Monday finally lost faith in the company's ability to fix its own longstanding problems.
Despite months of negotiations with various stakeholders, the Obama administration refused to offer GM another round of bailout funds, saying the company's restructuring proposals didn't go far enough to make for a viable plan. To get further concessions from unions, creditors and investors, the White House held out the possibility of a bankruptcy filing.

Just wait until Obama, through regulation, makes it too expensive for any other car manufacturer to compete with Government Motors. Government Motors will always continue to operate since profitability isn’t an issue when you get bailout $ from the taxpayer. You will drive a GM car, made to Obama specifications, whether you like it or not

They are diametrically opposed as far as what the results will be. I don't think he has a clue as to what he's doing. He's getting up every morning and playing a guessing game with Geithner as to what to do.
Who will buy them? Conservatives bought American cars. We may buy Fords now because they refused a bailout but like you said - Obama will ,make sure other car companies have a hard time competing against Govt Motors.
The British went down this road with British Leyland and it did not live that long.
I can just see Rahm, prancing around in the halls of the WH in his little Tutu, and square toed shoes.
I’d be more than curious to learn GM’s underfunding of pension funds and loans against city/state/etc. funds.
Wonder what Joe-the-union-retiree thinks about while puttering around the patio in Florida?
At least GM can keep its logo except now it stands for “Government Motors”.

Hey, glad I bought my Silverado July 07. I got a pre-Obama Chevy! Local talk radio host Mark Belling (subs for Rush) was calling GM, Government Motors this afternoon. He was really worked up about this newest abuse of power by Obama. Rightly so. Everyday, a new outrage by The Usurper.
Below are excerpts from two different documents. Which document better supports the President’s view of his actual powers?
The Constitutional Powers of the President (From Article II):
Section 2.
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.
The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.
Section 3.
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information on the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper; he shall receive Ambassadors and other public Ministers; he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, and shall Commission all the Officers of the United States.
The powers granted to the Reich Chancellor, 1933 by the passage of the Enabling Act:

The Reichstag has enacted the following law, which is hereby proclaimed with the assent of the Reichsrat, it having been established that the requirements for a constitutional amendment have been fulfilled:
Article 1
In addition to the procedure prescribed by the constitution, laws of the Reich may also be enacted by the government of the Reich. This includes the laws referred to by Articles 85 Paragraph 2 and Article 87 of the constitution.[1]
Article 2
Laws enacted by the government of the Reich may deviate from the constitution as long as they do not affect the institutions of the Reichstag and the Reichsrat. The rights of the President remain undisturbed.
Article 3
Laws enacted by the Reich government shall be issued by the Chancellor and announced in the Reich Gazette. They shall take effect on the day following the announcement, unless they prescribe a different date. Articles 68 to 77 of the Constitution do not apply to laws enacted by the Reich government.[2]
Article 4
Treaties of the Reich with foreign states which affect matters of Reich legislation shall not require the approval of the bodies of the legislature. The government of the Reich shall issue the regulations required for the execution of such treaties.
Article 5
This law takes effect with the day of its proclamation. It loses force on 1 April 1937 or if the present Reich government is replaced by another.
And that's what people are going to do. I heard stories about car repair shops seeing more business as people hang onto their cars longer. GM is going to be forced to build s--tty, electric, itty-bitty cars that run on Duracell batteries and the market will reject them.
