Flat Tax slogan:

“So easy even a Treasury Secretary can do it.”

20%? No sale!

That would cut my taxes in half. Considering that government seems to think it is twice as important as God, that number seems about right...

Sure... they’re going to fire thousands of IRS workers; put who knows how many accountants, lawyers, large, corporate tax prep services, mom and pop tax services out of business.

Don’t hold your breath. Too many people have too much invested in the present set-up for it ever to change.

Fair tax / Flat tax / current tax.... little difference as they are all tax COLLECTION laws. You want to change the current situation? Change how Congress SPENDS!

It is spending and entitlements that are killing this nation, not tax collection mechanisms. Changing the WAY we collect taxes is just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic.

He’s desperate to get reelected.

If the idea is that Arlen has redeeming social value, forget it. Too late to make the sale.

“there’s not a chance of it passing.”

Yeah, Snarlen’ thinks his “friends” on the other side of the aisle will support him. This is D.O.A.

LMAO

Specter is confused; yesterday was April Fools Day.

“it’s easy to get your tax percentage WAY below that.”

Obviously, I’ve been using the wrong accountant. Care to expound on the ways and means. Bye the way I don’t like jail and I’m not a Democrat.

As a lower earner, my taxes would double.

“He’s desperate to get reelected.”

That doesn’t make the idea any less appealing. I say Bravo to the Senator. Hopefully it will make it farther than the Armey 17 percent flat tax postcard plan.

Flat tax is a good idea .The problem is all the people who will try to not pay there fair share .They always find the loop holes(Big companies). Then there are the people who never pay. They just take from the system. That is why we all pay so much.If everyone paid it would only be 10%.

Would this tax hit all income levels, or just ones above a certain threshold? In other words, would someone who makes $10,000 a year have to pay $2,000 in taxes?

You may be in the 36% bracket, but if you are actually paying 36% you don’t have a good accountant. 20% is very high if it is straight off the top, unless the medicare is dropped as well as other stupid taxes. With my 5 dependents and all the money I give to charity, 20% would be a killer. I have read that a flat tax of 10% across the board is all that is needed.

Yep,

Now that he knows he’s toast for backing the stimulus crap, he’s running right on things he knows won’t pass to claim he’s a conservative. Specter is not going to survive the Republican Primary this time, that doesn’t mean he will lose PA if he runs as an indy or a dem, but he won’t be running under the R in the general this time, that much is for sure.

Yep. He’ll propose it and then do nothing serious to push it through and then come to us claiming conservative creds. No sale, Arlen. You’ve been a loser in my book since the impeachment vote. You’re too full of your own conceit, and too empty of courage and spine.
