Obviously, I’ve been using the wrong accountant. Care to expound on the ways and means. Bye the way I don’t like jail and I’m not a Democrat.

1) Get Married,
2) Have Kids,
3) Get a HUGE Mortgage,
4) Give generously to your church,
5) Donate old clothes, books, appliances to charity,
6) Max out your 401K,
7) Pay butt loads of State Income Tax, and
8) Buy and use TaxCut.

While my "marginal rate" is 28%, my overall is typically closer to 16-17%. So... NO THANKS, Arlen.

You are a rare. Do you live in a big city? Those in the big cities would definitely benefit from this since many do not own homes, and if single like you, this would be beneficial. Those of use with families and owning a home would get killed at 20%.

That doesn’t make the idea any less appealing. I say Bravo to the Senator.

Sorry, I can't support the plan at all. EVERY person who earns a dime should pay taxes on those earnings if anyone pays taxes. 50% of the wage earners pay no income tax. Everyone should pay taxes, period.

20% is too high. 13% or less should be the norm.

I believe you're right. I remember him giving interviews on that when he ran for Prez. If it weren't for his looks and odd demeanor, he would be the Prez. He is brilliant, but a bit odd. He is substance over form, whereas BO is form with no substance. It is said how both looks and voice win over for high office.

Yes! Straight from the Word of God. I agree with real estate as well. I have done some in the past; I currently am holding two small pieces of property for investment, and may purchase some more because prices have dropped so much. I may get a double use out of it—for investment of the vacant land and to use for some of my bees.

Scrap the filing part completely and go to sales tax or fair tax. Even drug dealers, smugglers, prostitutes, tax cheaters, etc etc have to buy stuff. Unless it’s sales tax taken at time of purchases these guys are still tax exempt.

You are exactly right! Your outline is my life, with the exception of the millions of bees that I have. Furthermore, I have some investment property with a line of credit on it. I can write off the interest, and now the interest rate is below 4%!

20% is excessive IMHO it should be more like 10%-15%!

#23 I think you have it nailed. Far too many are invested in the current system to get rid of it including the Congress who spend a good deal of their time monkeying with the tax code at the behest of lobbyists.

I would not trust Democrat Arlen Spector with washing my dirty socks.

There is no false GOP member that I resent more than this man. This very selfish man has sold his soul and is no friend to our country. When he had the chance to lead he turned, when he had the chance to stand up and be counted he sat down and cowered. Mr. "Get along with the political enemy" has done nothing more then empower the democrats at every turn.

How about a flat “sales” tax and the Govt stays out of our income!

I’m fixin’ to own a home in a not so big city, but I rent in Atlanta now. I’m married too, so there;s that good ole marriage penalty. I can’t wait to deduct that $8K for a first time homeowner.

What is it about maintaining power for life at all costs with these people (long-term professional politicians)?

The man is well into his 70s and has a serious illness. Why doesn’t he accept retirement?

I have found every legal loophole I can find and I keep on looking every year for more. It has become a game with me to get my taxes as low as possible.

The flat tax is a good idea. It was a good idea when Steve Forbes ran on it. It's a good idea now. Arlen is a RINO, and Arlen can be a jerk. But even RINO jerks have their good days. I really don't care what his motives are. If he can get this bill passed and signed, more power to him, and let the political chips fall where they may.

That said, there is not a snowball's chance in hell that this bill will go anywhere in this Congress or with King Zero.
