“across the board flat-tax”
Should be “across-the-board flat tax”, ironically.
How about we start with 5%, no deductions, and see what kind of revenue that generates?
“We won’t get fooled again”.
LLS
It would generate unbelievable prosperity. I'm more for voluntary taxes myself.
Really? In that case, don't you think it is a little unfair that I'm paying a tax rate that is almost 4 times yours? How about we just compromise and get rid of the income tax altogether?
If government would just cut spending back to the days of the Clinton administration (certainly not a time of austerity in federal spending), we could do that and still be revenue neutral.
In the meantime, in more important and relevant news, the Phil Spector re-trial has been adjourned to to an illness of a juror.
The rate should be 10%, IMO.
This is actually incredible...
The tax code is the very basis of our corrupt political system, and it ain’t gonna change any time soon. Someone else observed it first, and I’m just parroting an opinion I heard 20 years ago at least. Congress and states’ legislatures live and breathe for the tax code and the favours that they have the power to grant by ever minute adjustments. It’ll take a revolution to change this setup. In the meantime, dream on!
You got it, and the only true break from this would be the repeal of the entire premise of income tax, the 16th Amend. Flat tax isn’t good enough. There should be NO income tax. Funny how fast the country grew up to 1913, and it’s not been as much since.
