President Barack Obama will call for the elimination of all nuclear weapons across the globe, in remarks on Sunday he hopes will lend credibility to his message in atomic disputes with Iran and North Korea.
Visiting Prague during an eight-day visit to Europe, Obama plans to deliver what his aides have billed as a major speech on weapons proliferation.
Obama, who is making his debut on the world stage, said in Strasbourg, France on Friday that he would lay out an agenda to secure the world's loose nuclear materials and halt the spread of illicit weapons.
He added that he wanted to offer an agenda "to seek the goal of a world without nuclear weapons."
"Even with the Cold War over, the spread of nuclear weapons or the theft of nuclear material could lead to the extermination of any city on the planet," Obama said.

Global cooperation to rein in rogue states is not a bad idea in principle. It would be in Russia’s interest as well as ours to put a firm lid on the radical Islamonut factor in Afghanistan, because that’s virtually in Russia’s backyard. Not even with a President McCain could we expect to do that alone.

If it’s as stupid as this suggests, he’s going to get laughed at big time.
Nobody sensible expects that the US and Russia and China will get into a nuclear tussle anytime soon, the so called doomsday clock notwithstanding. All are rational. All want to keep existing. Good old MAD is keeping all alive and wary of making too many threatening moves. Nukes on subs and fighter jets make the benefit of any “pre-emptive” strike dubious to all.
It’s the 70-virgin certified nuts that throw off the game. They may say they hate the US the worst, because of official support to Israel, but they can’t be too happy about Chinese and Russian tortures of the past either.
