LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles County coroner official says an autopsy has failed to determine the cause of death for adult film star Marilyn Chambers.
Los Angeles County coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Tuesday that 56-year-old Chambers probably died of natural causes, but additional testing will be required.
Chambers was found dead Sunday at her home in the Los Angeles suburb of Canyon Country.
Chambers starred in the explicit 1972 movie "Behind the Green Door," which helped bring hard-core adult films into the mainstream.
Her appearance in the film cost the then-aspiring model and actress her job as Procter & Gamble's Ivory Snow girl. She had appeared on the soap box with a baby and the caption "99 & 44/100 percent pure."

i think what they mean by “mainstream” is that there is now a consumer market for this stuff as opposed to going down back alleys or to shady “combat zones” etc. Heck they have award ceremonies for these things now (one time i was in Vegas they had a convention if you can believe that). some of these “stars” are well known and show up in real films and video games and cartoons.

That’s a rumor that went around, but age-wise I don’t think it’s possible. According to IMDB, Brooke was born in 1965. Marilyn Chambers was born in 1952. So Marilyn was 13 when Brooke was a newborn.
That Ivory Snow ad is from circa 1972, when Brooke would have been about seven.

Its not sold in any stores I go to, unless you mean video stores. I havent been to a video store in years and even then the porn was in a separate room. Likewise there are separate cable channels for porn. To my knowledge they dont show it on the mainstream movie channels like HBO, or Cinemax. When they do, it will have hit mainstream. As far as computers, just because its possible to download a snuff or beastiality flick doesnt make it mainstream.

That was just a rumor.
Back in the late 60s and early 70s hardcore was every where, not exactly mainstream, but soft porn was extremely prevalent in theaters across the country, much more so than today. It got so bad that a lot of the movies had no plot other than showing boobs and sex scenes.
This lady is dead. I did not approve of her lifestyle but the porn industry uses people up. Most of the women get hooked on drugs.
The poor woman was living in a trailer. CA has become an expensive hell on earth.
I only have pity for her. RIP.
At least a dump truck or monster truck didn’t fall on her like Mark Fidrych. Now, not sure if something else monster was responsible for her death.
