Tea Party Total Head Count Thread (Post Your Attendance Numbers Here)
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/15/2009 3:08:47 PM PDT by kristinn

I'm hoping to be able to ascertain an overall national figure of attendance at the tea parties today by asking Freepers to post their crowd estimates on this thread.

I'm also asking that the thread be kept to just the numbers, no photos, etc., but if you want to link back to photos in your crowd estimate that's fine.

Please give the location and number of participants.

I'll go first:

Melbourne, FL - 1000.

Wouldn’t surprise me if you’re right on that total estimate... The cool thing is — that’s just those who KNEW about it, and were able to SHOW! I KNOW there are tons out there that like me either didn’t know, or were unable to attend due to various reasons (work, illness, etc...).

This is HUGE (and serious, not “series”! LOL). If the politicians weren’t worried before, they should be now... I love it that the media is freaking out not knowing how to spin this... GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!! God bless America!!!

Sarasota estimate above 2000 now and that number is from the very liberal and non-reporting Herald Tribune.

Ogden actually had a nice little “tea party”, or rally in front of the old municipal bldg. (if you’ve ever been to Ogden, you’ll know what I mean.) It was pretty well attended, even in spite of the weather! They had some extra signs for people who didn’t have any. We got a number of people honking at us and waving!

I think it was one of the smaller, less well known events in the Wasatch Front area. This one was organized by the Libertarian Party, but people of all political affiliations were invited!

Endicott NY, very small town, had about 300 people outside the Post Office with signs, costumes, and various speakers from the crowd. No news people that I observed, just people in the crowd taking pictures and videos. At the end of the rally, we all walked to the river to throw our tea bags in the river. It was only about 2 hours long and it was well worth the time!

Springfield, MO. Hard to guess since there was a block long line of sign holders along the road, and a mass by a speaker. I would estimate between 1200-2000 people.

They said about 2,200 here in Vegas.
Seemed like that amount.
Great day.

Louisville, Ky. We estimated 1500 to (possibly 2000).

Initial news reports put it at several hundred, but I was told the Courier gave it 1,000. Considering what a lib rag it is, our count seems more likely.

Great crowd. Great signs. Almost no ugliness from passing motorists.

One very big kook with an “Impeach Bush” sign. Which everyone thought was great because it was great advertisement for what dimwits these people are.

Also, we later attended Elizabethtown and count was at least 400. Great turnout for such a little town.

Going through the thread and adding the lower estimates and rounding down, I get 159,200, up to my Peoria post.

I did not include any corrections, and I didn’t check for double posts of the same site—I only caught San Antonio being posted a couple of times.

Wow, only 1000? The pictures I saw looked like there were at least 5-6000.

Napa, CA. We had about 50 or so at 2 pm. But it is scheduled from 8 am to 9 pm, and attendence is expected to go up in the evening. (Most gotta work for a living!) So I’ll put the number at around 450,000.

Oh yeah? They’ve got a pretty disgusting column by Paul Begala:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/15/begala.taxes/index.html

# Story Highlights
# Paul Begala: April 15 is one day most Americans sacrifice for government
# Begala says paying taxes to support worthy government services is patriotic
# “Tea parties” are being pushed by GOP supporters who lost election, Begala says
# He says President Obama and Congress have cut taxes for most

Dallas, Texas - man, I don’t know how to estimate crowds.

It was big.

It is a guess, but I would say 2,500?

Also, when the crowd recited the Pledge of Alleigence, all the Dallas Police stood at attention and recited it with the crowd. Gotta luv Texas.
