Whew, Then I am IN like FLYNN :)
Deal, Yankee.
Centexan quickly ducking for cover.
“No true Texan would ever turn their backs to the United States”.
The United States has turned it’s back to Texas as evedenced by the election and the race to the bottom the country is now engaged in.
My Great Grandfather and four of his brothers from East Texas served in the Confederate Army like the vast majority of military age Texans. Secession was ratified by popular vote in a huge victory for Secession with around 80% of the vote. Many of the No voters went on to join the Confederate Army even though they had oppossed Secession because they were loyal to their state over the Federal Govt. and “Honest” Abe.
So who were the “true Texans”?
For Texas they would.
“What’s going to be our national anthem?...Yellow Rose of Texas maybe?”
Texas, Our Texas
Written by William J. Marsh and Gladys Yoakum Wright
Composed by William J. Marsh
Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State!
Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great!
Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev’ry test
O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.
Texas, O Texas! your freeborn single star,
Sends out its radiance to nations near and far,
Emblem of Freedom! it set our hearts aglow,
With thoughts of San Jacinto and glorious Alamo.
Texas, dear Texas! from tyrant grip now free,
Shines forth in splendor, your star of destiny!
Mother of heroes, we come your children true,
Proclaiming our allegiance, our faith, our love for you.
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong,
That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long.
“Texas, Our Texas,” the official state song of Texas, was adopted by the Texas Legislature in 1929.
“Whew, Then I am IN like FLYNN :)”
Without a doubt...
you guys may be a little iffy on fresh water.
Should have been more clear: manufacturer of commercial airlines.
Texas supplies half the natural gas of the whole (Current) country.
When we secede, the rest can just go suck up to Hugo Chavez.
And don’t bother trying to use the U.S. military to stop us; the number of Texans in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force just about equals those from all other states combined.
Well OK, but only if they come in with the Texas Rangers wearing hats and boots):)
On horses.
But those are just for "export" since we also make pickup trucks in (at least) two major plants here.
Plus all Peterbilt trucks are built here, as well as an insignificant handful of Internationals.
They'll have to apply for citizenship just like anyone else.
Of course, preference will be given to those with useful skills and who can demonstrate they can hold a job...
Same rules as Australia enforces, btw
And Texas is the only such state.
You ever come here, just keep opinions like that to yourself, sport, and you *might* make it back to whatever shithole you crawled out of.
Thank you for that suggestion.
When I die I may not go to heaven
I don't know if they let cowboys in
If they don't just let me go to Texas, Boy!
Texas is as close as I've been.
New York couldn't hold my attention
Detroit City couldn't sing my song
If tomorrow finds me busted flat in Dallas
I won't care, 'cause at least I'll know I'm home.
When I die I may not go to heaven
I don't know if they let cowboys in
If they don't just let me go to Texas, Boy!
Texas is as close as I've been.
I'd ride through all of Hell and half of Texas
Just to hear Willie Nelson sing a country song
Beer just ain't as cold in old Milwaukee
My body's here, but my soul's in San Antone.
When I die I may not go to heaven
I don't know if they let cowboys in
If they don't just let me go to Texas, Boy!
Texas is as close as I've been.
When I die I may not go to heaven
I don't know if they let cowboys in
If they don't just let me go to Texas, Boy!
Texas is as close as I've been.
We should also pass a law that requires Tanya Tucker to sing it at every "national" event
Nuclear reactors + seawater = hydrogen + drinking water + power.
