The Morning After TP...It's (Still) the Media, Stupid.
4-16-09 | Bob J

Posted on 04/16/2009 9:24:50 AM PDT by Bob J

The Tea Parties are over, the clean up is finished and all that's left are the lamentations over the despicable media coverage priot to and during, and, to agonizingly watch as the event and conservatives are slowly roasted over the spit while the MSM skewers it for the next couple of weeks. Because, it ain't done until Olberman says it is.

Which reminds me of a story. A turtle was about to cross a creek when a scorpion asks if he can hitch a ride on the turtles shell. At first the turtle says no as the scorpion might sting him. The scorpion says he wouldn't do that since the turtle is helping him so the turtle agrees. Halfway across the scorpion stings the turtle and as they both sink into the creek the turtle asks "why?". The scorpion responds "because it's my nature".

The only thing more ironic than praying for a fair shake from the MSM are the expressions of shock and dismay when they stick the shiv in our back.

Conservatism suffers under a delusion. Many of us believe that Obama, Cinton, Pelosi, the DNC etc. are our enemies. They aren't, they are our opponents and adversaries. Our real enemy is the leftist dominated fascist media that operates the propaganda machine which targets each and every conservative cause and makes our opponents dreams come true.

IMO, without that significant hedgemony that gives them the ability to lie, cheat, obfuscate, deny, cover up and consequently shape the opinions of too many ignorant voters, there never would have been any Clintons, a liberal dominated congress or an Obama presidency. That significant hedgemony gives them the ability to successfuly manipulate opinion on every single issue important to conservatives...abortion, 2nd amendment, taxes, spending, size of government, foreign policy, etc. It gives them the ability to successfully lie, attack, denigrate and trivialize any champion of our causes including their policies, endeavors and successes. It gives our opponents the ability to consistently win.

Let me get to my point. The Tea Parties were great, hopefully they got a message across and helped build esprit d'corps. But that endeavor and any subsequent follow up are doomed to eventual failure as long as the left holds their significant advantage in the media. We may see the occasional victory in battle but no conservative movement can survive, much less win, a long term war with the constant pounding and beating we take from the lefts media leviathan.

This is a war and our enemy is the media. Until conservatives realize that and start planning, acting and executing as if everything we hold dear to be in mortal jeopardy, we will continue to push that boulder up the hill only to have it roll back down on us every time.

What is the answer? Take all that time, money, energy, talent, commitment and resolve we put into pushing issues and candidates into a war eliminating leftist domination of the media.

Once that is accomplished, we won't have to roll boulders up hills...the hill will become a level playing field where conservative values win 4 times out of 5.

This has become a trick with DNC candidates. They will claim to stay “above the fray” when it comes to their opponents personal life and personalities. They can because the press does the job for them

Great post. The Leftist Media is an arm of the DNC, hiding stories of corrupt Liberal politicians and exacerbating ANYTHING negative about Conservatives, real or imagined.

The coverage of the Tea Parties is exemplary of the hardcore Marxist ideology of the Media. It's easy to see when you see who the editors and owners of these corporations are, far Left radical, America-hating Communists. They despise the system and country that provides them creature comforts they could never imagine in any other nation on earth, yet they still hate it.

We need to pool our money and buy some of these dying Liberal platforms (TV, radio, print) and get a foothold back into the media.

Olbermann grates me to the point I want to vomit, so does Matthews, Maddow, Couric, Williams, Charlie Rose...the Lefty list goes on and on...

I would suggest a war against the MSM. And it is very simple since Reagan was so effective with it in the 80’s.

You bankrupt them. You go after their advertisers, you file lawsuits against their bias and you force them out of the closet. Not only against the MSM, but against other leftwing causes.

By forcing them to spend money they would use to further their agenda, you take away a very powerful tool. Eventually, even a George Soros and others will realize that their money is being tossed in the toilet and will stop funding these groups.

We were the 3rd story on the tv local news here in the SF Bay Area. They covered the local, and also had a screen split into four showing parties in four other states. I felt the coverage was decent.

Generally local news is a little fairer than the MSM. Chalk this up to the “occasional win”.

But let me ask you a question, taking how the entire media, local and national, treated the event, how would you rate it on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being honest and 1 being dishonest?

I couldn't agree more. The media is no longer reporting the story, they are becoming the story.

I believe a nongovernmental organization should be set up to “rate” news organizations and personalities. This organization would be setup in a similar way to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is for rating movies. If a news program/network/reporter wants to be registered as unbiased this organization would apply standards to qualify. A news organization could have both registered unbiased reporters and pundits(biased), but would have to apply a graphic that identifies each as they speak/report/preach.

The only way for the media to move in this direction would be if people were to start protesting the media. Chants of “bias” and “join the (what ever name this organization becomes)” should be in the background of every on-site broadcast. News organizations should be picketed. Everyone being interviewed should first ask “are you a member of ____.”

I believe this would renew integrity in journalism while maintaining the free speech rights of everyone.

Nice post BobJ. But I can’t help but think that Obamaby, Hilliary and the like ARE my enemies, as well as the media. they are one in the same.

Expose them as outright LIARS. They are the Pravda Media and they’ve been MAKING UP news for years.

Agree. The left is a a comglomeration of small cults and the media is the bull horn for some great omnipotent leader or cause which they mindlessly rally to. If we attack Obama mindlessly like the talk radio blabbermouths then the media rallies the cult to the “great leader’s” defense and we accomplish very little. It is the cultists who need to be singled out for criticism and ostracism not the “great leader.”

Agreed with your point #1, we need a scorecard/report card.

As for #2, we are way beyond protesting. Protesting the MSM is like throwing Mao’s little red book at apparatchiks.

Now you’re talking. It’s a war and calls for battle tested strategies and techniques.

The time for asking is over. Now it’s time for demanding and following up with critical action if those demands are ignored.

If we really wanted to wake up the world, we'd stop organizing for media attention and start organizing for impact.

I appreciate the teaparties very much, but it was a given that they would be ignored by our elected officials and impugned by the MSM. We need to start forcing them to hear the people.

Absolutely dead-bang on, Bob! The lame-stream (think urine) media is another enemy. We have many. :o)

Usually, I man my post at the keyboard, finding out the real deal and the video, as appropriate, to back it up; then, I email it to all my friends and family. Some of them don’t have the time to fish for the real news. Most of them know they are getting spin, but they just don’t know how much news they’re not hearing about AT ALL.

Deception and lies die under the light of information and truth. We must all take on the responsibility of educating those around us, imho.

That’s not an unfair position, but let me throw this at you. If you target a “hillary” and even succeed in marginalizing or removing her, your effort may be in vain as there are 20 more “hillarys” lined up right behind her to take her spot.

We have to target command and control...the entities that are responsible for putting “hillarys” in positions of power to begin with. These entities are the secret army of our enemies. The operate in anonimity knowing they will never have to answer for their crimes against democracy.

I think you’re on to something, could you define “impact”?

“Deception and lies die under the light of information and truth. We must all take on the responsibility of educating those around us, imho.”

How about we just force the media to report the news honestly and accurately? Then we don’t have to educate anyone, the media will be doing that as they should always have been.

The MSM has become cancerous and it is beyond treatment. The bad parts must be excised for there to be any hope of recovery.
