Trump: Teaparties have a point, OPEC destroyed econmy, Nothing's done to S. Arabia after 9/11
cnn ^ | 04,15,09

KING: We're back with Donald Trump. His book, "Think Like a Champion,"

...

TRUP: When the economy starts getting better, you will have an OPEC problem. They'll just start raising the price of oil again and destroy the economy... I also happen to think that $150 oil destroyed the world economically.

And as soon as the world comes back, OPEC will raise its ugly head and destroy it again. So somebody better sit -- and I hope it's our president -- somebody better sit down with OPEC right now and say, "Listen, we're going to straighten this mess out, but you're not going to destroy it for us again."

KING: But you're not going to march with the tea party?

TRUMP: I don't march with the tea party. But I'll tell you what, they have a good point, because when you see the kind of money that this country is -- to use a horrible expression, Larry, I know you've never heard this -- but that this country is pissing away, I can understand where they're coming from.

[...] Saddam Hussein did not knock down the World Trade Center. I could tell you another country that had a lot more to do with it that we don't do anything about.

KING: Which is?

TRUMP: You know who I'm talking about.

KING: Say it.

TRUMP: You know who I'm talking about?

Well, it seemed that all of the folks went back to Saudi Arabia... They put their wives on the planes. They all went back to Saudi Arabia.

KING: They got out fast.

All right, we...

TRUMP: And we -- we attack Iraq.

He lost my respect because he still can't shut up about "Bush being a total disaster for eight years".

He claims Bush should have gone after the Saudis? Yet he has billions of dollars invested in Dubai real estate. Is he nuts?

Trump is out of his element when he is talking about anything outside of real estate development. I heard him interviewed many times about issues such as politics, national defense, etc. He isn't wrong about everything but he just isn't just a keen observer of issues.

Stick to building Casinos Donald, it's what you are good at. Leave politics and world affairs to the adults.

well, oil started it,then some mysterious entity started a run on money markets, congress seized the timing with the freddie/fannie mess, now we are subverted by a socialist regime, that has tee-total control of our country, and their letting the very corrupt politicians who set up the crisis ,to fix it. On top of that lets stimulate acorn, the unions and hollywood, but lets destroy our sovereignty by giving the illegals citizenship, destroy manufacturing, mining,by cap and trade, and lets let GM start making segwaymobiles and etc.2010 is our last stand maybe,I know the happy people will say”we went through worse before” and I say “BS!” this is a paradigm shift unlike any this country will ever face.
As far as OPEC,we could produce cheap electricity from COAL!!!!! and gasoline from coal and natural gas and nothing would stop this country from making back the trillions we have lost lately and drive SUV’s instead of segways.I hope Texas secedes,I will be the first to sneak thru the desert to get there.

I don’t always agree with the Donald, either, but I appreciate a man speaking his mind in a frank manner. He is bold, and I like that.

"...well,oil started it,then some mysterious entity started a run on money markets,

I believe your "mysterious entity" also had a hand in the price of oil. I'm not absolving OPEC, I think they're lower than snakes in the grass, but it was speculative, and I would argue not-market driven trading that ran up oil to the price it reached. OPEC only had a marginal or peripheral role in the $4.25 a gallon gas.

As for the rest of Trump's rant, I still believe that there were elements of the Saudi Royal family that bank-rolled and knew of the coming 9/11 attacks. It's one of the few instances in which I take some umbrage with Bush and Cheney. I believe the Saudi connection was swept under the rug.

“Listen, we’re going to straighten this mess out, but you’re not going to destroy it for us again.”

And the Obama response is “Yeah dude, we’ve, like, got windmills and, like, mirrors, you know, and like we’re gonna be, like outa here, you know. But do you mind if I kiss your ring dude”?

well,I agree,it did all come together like a perfect storm, but the very thing to stop opec is our vast coal, oil &gas supplies, but we will forfeit our future prosperity for the hoax of global warming, and if the world just happened to get colder, many will suffer and die trying to be sustainable.

He's not lying on this one.

Just a couple of months before 9/11, members of the Taliban visited Sugar Land, TX - home to oil corporate headquarters. It evidently did not end happily.

And remember April Glaspie's assurance to Saddam - that the United States had no interest if Iraq invaded Kuwait? She was tricked and furious.

What would happen if Alaska told the government to piss off and drilled in ANWR?

What are they going to do? Send in the Marines?

Trump was on FOX Sunday this morning and he gives Obama an A+ on the economy!

Huh? Is Trump worried about Obama targeting him for some scrutiny?
