TEL AVIV, Israel–The Israel Defense Forces is carrying out drills to practice for a possible massive aerial assault on Iran's nuclear facilities within days - or even hours - of being given the go-ahead by its new government, according to a report today in the Times of London.
"Israel wants to know that if its forces were given the green light they could strike at Iran in a matter of days, even hours. They are making preparations on every level for this eventuality. The message to Iran is that the threat is not just words," one unnamed senior defense official was quoted telling The Times.
The British newspaper quoted other unidentified defense sources explaining any Israeli attack on Iran would entail flying over Jordanian and Iraqi airspace, where U.S. forces have a strong presence.
Previous drills have included the use of F15 and F16 fighter jets, helicopters and refueling tankers, practicing bombing raids at long distances, according to the Times. Those drills took place last year, according to IDF sources speaking to WND.

I’m not that worried about President Obama being upset - I am worried about what happens if Israel can’t do a thorough job. I think it was Dick Cheney who said this was beyond them.

Didn’t mean to imply that he was - but VP Cheney may have had a good idea how distributed and hardened the Iranian program was.
If Cheney has a correct account of what Israel has got, it will take a divine miracle to pull off such a raid.
One of the issues (the purported inability of their fighters to refuel in air) seems a bit stretched to me. Is that truly rocket science?

I hope they don’t bomb at 2:00 AM on a Saturday night. They need to inflict casualities, hopefully fatalities. The people are more irreplacable than the facilities. Hit them at 10:00 AM on a Tuesday Morning, to cause as many casualities as possible.

Israel couldn’t have a better friend than a President Dick Cheney. If he has doubts I’d listen to him. That being said if anyone can pull this off it will be the Israelis. I wish them luck but don’t underestimate the Iranian’s ability to counterstrike. Syria, Lebanon and Gaza are wildcards that must be taken into account.
So messing up Iran would do that... a little.
Actually, I would hit all the Mosques at prayer time, at least those closest to the Nuke facilities.
But, I am just stuck in a Crusade mentality, I guess!

If they decide to do it,it will be in the few days on either side of the new moon. The next one is April 25 and after that the 24 of May. This release of information from Israel is probably meant to put pressure on Obama and to see if the Iranians will raise at least a partial white flag.
