Great post! I agree. Secession should be kept for a last resort. As long as there is any hope, we should keep trying to save the U.S. But, I think it is prudent to remember that it is always there as a last option if we are not able to turn this country around.

Education is the best key. Transplants need to see the Alamo, the battleground at San Jacinto, Goliad, and talk to long time Citizens of Texas. When they understand what this state has been through and what we will do to keep our freedom, then maybe they will understand. I have some good friends/neighbors who are transplants from Michigan. They have figured it out and won’t be going back. It’s not about macho crap, it’s more about being self reliant and not depending on ANY govt to help. It really makes me sick to see so many people dependant on the govt for their existance. Grow up and grow a set. Your grandparents were right. There is no free lunch.

Sorry but demographics aren’t your side in Texas, as it is now Texas will soon be permanent and reliably blue.

If you secede, any conservatives gains will soon be lost as you will end up being outvoted in 20-30 years later. In the end you will get even worse liberal policies that you left behind.

It won’t happen, but I would love to see it happen.
An act like that would “send a message” so far beyond
anything that we’ve ever seen before-—yet we really are in a situation we’ve never seen before, with a blatant demagogue and his Administration committed to completing a massive power grab before anyone notices just how much irreversible damage they’ve done. I would LOVE to see Texas get to the point where secession becomes a real possibility. And when you think of it, it would perversely help fulfill the comparisons of Obama and Lincoln, though not in the way they could’ve anticipated.

I’m not sure about what point your map in #43 is supposed to make.

Should we secede? No, not yet. There are still a lot of avenues for us to pursue to take our country back.

I'm with you, Spikey. That was a very eloquent and well reasoned plea for sane analysis of this question.

Of course we should stand and fight for the survival of our whole country. I'm insulted by calls to abandon US territory to the liberal horde and their Socialist masters.

This is OUR country, because we're the people who love and support it with our tax dollars, hard work and creativity, and even our very lives.

Why should we surrender a single square inch of our sacred land to these worthless scum? Doing so would be an affront to the memory and sacrifice of every American patriot who ever laid down their life defending this great country.

I understand the passion of the moment, but when the air is still, and a man can quietly reflect on all that America means to him, the choice is clear. We must take our country back!

...let us Texans declare war against the rest of the US, and gradually take back our country, one state at a time...

Interesting and exiting concept.

In a scenario in which the Republic of Texas declared war on the federal government of the United States, a lot of states would side with Texas against the feds.

There's no question that most of the Southwest, and ALL of the deep South would side with Texas, but I wonder what other states would join us?

The question of which states would go red and which would go blue is worthy of its own thread.

We Texans can secure our Texas border with Mexico, and to hell with the Federal border with Mexico.

Wonderful idea. We ought to start banging the drum and make that an issue for the upcoming gubernatorial campaign.

First stop, get our state legislature to adopt and enact the same anti-illegal immigrant laws that Oklahoma put in place recently.

Their illegals looked like a wagon train leaving the state before the ink was even dry.

You’ll have to bring your own ammo. I’ve had trouble finding it in my part of Texas.
