Skip to comments.Judiciary Committee greenlights 'hate crimes': Members refuse to protect Christian pastors...

Members of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee today rejected an opportunity to protect Christian pastors who preach the biblical condemnation of homosexuality and approved on a 15-12 vote a "hate crimes" bill that supporters admit could be used to bring charges against religious leaders.
The bill, H.R. 1913, now will be considered by the full House of Representatives.
The committee rejected a number of amendments offered by several members seeking to protect religious liberty, to protect the unborn, to protect against violence by illegal aliens, and to clarify the bill's meanings of "gender identity" and "sexual orientation."
One of the rejected proposals was offered by Rep. Louis Gohmert, R-Texas, who sought to ensure ministers could not be prosecuted for abetting a "hate crime" simply because they preach from the Bible or another religious book.
When a nearly identical plan was developed in the last Congress, Rep. Artur Davis, D-Ala., admitted during a hearing on the bill it could be used to prosecute pastors merely for preaching under the premise that they could be "inducing" violence in someone.

From the bill:
SEC. 10. RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.
Nothing in this Act, or the amendments made by this Act, shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to the Constitution.
NOW comes the back lash of the beloved 501c3 tax exempt status, that all the churches have bought in to.
Pastors will be included with the rest of us conservatives as potential terrorists.
You clearly haven’t read the text of the proposed bill, just as very few people here have. It’s just a taxpayer money-suck to give federal assistance to local investigations of hate crimes. Nothing in this bill will chill religious freedom of speech. Read first, then comment.
It's not coming folks, it's HERE!
With solid majorities in both houses of Congress, this must be what the people want. Until we can get these average voters to understand the ramifications of what they’re doing when they pull the lever for the RATS, this is not going to stop.
Would Muslims be guilty, too, or only followers of Christ? My bet is it would most likely be “selective” prosecution of this “crime”.
Do you think we’ll see the first trial of this involving muslims?
Thanks to the millions of “Christians” who vote Democrat.

So, the same will apply to any anti-gay, anti-feminist rhetoric espoused by imams in mosques.
Passage of this law might very well outlaw the koran in the US, due to the call to kill Jews... You know what they say about silver linings and dark clouds...
Please remember that people said the same thing about McCain/Feingold CFR, and that it would never stand after the SCOTUS got through with it...
The USA is rapidly dissolving.
Keep your powder dry, FRiends. The 2nd American Revolution is imminent.
That doesn't mean anything, of course. It's just smoke and mirrors. I wonder how they expect us to "construe" it.
did not even know this was going through the house, So the left is at it again trying to close down free speech and attack christian religion
seems I will be prosecuted then because I will not shut up about how homosexuality is disgusting
And they will...
