I wonder what Marxist ACLU attorney will be appointed to replace him.

Pretty pathetic of Souter that a republican appointed him, and he waits until a radical leftist democrat is in office before he retires.

Souter was Bush 41’s biggest mistake!

This gives us a chance of BO’s nominee to the court to eventually turn out moderate or conservative, a reverse “Souter'

That won't happen, but at least if there are any republican senators with any gonads left, they can expose the Obama nominee for what s/he/it is.

Souter and Ginsburg are pretty much left wing.. Replacing them will make no difference in fact, you can’t do much worse..in finding someone to replace them...

The Elder Bush was when all is said and done a loser. He raises taxes... doesn’t finish what he started in Mid East and appoints this jerk....

Aw shucks. Maybe Obama can nominate Al Franken or Chris Dodd. Not 100% convinced it wouldn’t be an improvement.

He is not that old, right? Hasn’t been sick.....Why retiring?

David Souter is and always has been, borderline psychotic. The man's history speaks for itself-- he is psychiatrically unfit and always has been. He is probably retiring now because the voices in his head, from leading denizens of the planet Xenon, are telling him to.

Gang of 14 doesn’t matter anymore since the democrats will soon have 60 votes and rats don’t vote against rat nominations.

“Most here seem to implicity agree Obama will not be appointing a white male.”

I’m all for appointing women and minorities, provided they be well qualified and carry out their duties as proscribed in the Constitution. I have a hard time imagining Obama appointing someone of that disposition.

"look for hussein’s party to gain seats in the Senate in 2010, then the socialists will authorize three or four more seats to go to SCOTUS. then we’ll be communists for the next 200 years."

If this happens I think there should, and will be a massive revolt. At least I would hope so. If that wouldn't trigger outrage on a massive level, our country really is lost.

I wouldn't count on the dems needing 60.

Santorum, GOP Lawyers Spar Over Filibuster

Former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., urged a room full of Republican attorneys today to fight President Obama's judicial nominees -- but to stop short of the filibuster.
Speaking at a Republican National Lawyers Association conference at the National Press Club, Santorum insisted to a skeptical audience that filibustering judicial nominees would be counterproductive. Two questioners wondered why Republicans should show restraint after Democrats blocked several of President Bush's nominees. "We will lose every single filibuster attempt, even if it's the worst judge in the world. We don't have the votes," Santorum rejoined....
