Gay athletes to get Whistler 'safe space'
Vancouver Sun ^ | May 9, 2009 | Jeff Lee

Posted on 05/09/2009 8:44:31 AM PDT by Loyalist

Canadian athletes at the 2010 Winter Games will have Canada House. Russians will have Russia House. The Dutch, Holland House.

And now, gay and lesbian athletes will have Pride House.

For the first time in Olympic history, gay and lesbian athletes will have a place to go to relax and watch events, and meet friends.

On Friday, a group called GayWhistler announced it will set up a special club house in partnership with the Pan Pacific Whistler Village hotel.

The free facility will be open to homosexual athletes, their families, friends and fans. It will offer a lounge, television screens and meeting areas.

"It is really important to have a safe space for out athletes, coaches, fans and allies to come and hang out, share their stories, trade pins and have fun," said Dean Nelson, one of the organizers.

I thought the Winter Olympics were already pretty good for homos. Think of men's figure skating. And luge. Especially luge.

... Pride House.

Keep saying it, and soon you might even begin to believe it.

How "safe" is it to be exposed to HIV?

Interesting point. I’ve heard that one of the dirty secrets of the Olympics is that the atmosphere in the Olympic Village is like a bar or nightclub. For years the Olympic organizers have handed out condoms for the athletes there.

Yes that’s right. Segregation for homosexuals is now considered ok. ‘

In this politically correct world, I think this segregation is ok because the gay/lesbian/trans-whatever athletes requested it and are organizing it. If segregation were imposed on them from others, then that would be considered bad. But if they “self-segregate” like this, then that’s a sign of homosexual pride.

I always wonder what’s with their co-opting the word “Pride”. Are they uniquely proud of themselves?

I wonder if ALL gay/lesbian whatever athletes from all countries will go in there. There are some countries in the world where homosexuality is not celebrated the way we and Canada celebrate the diversity. They may not want to be “outed” and have that news get back to their “intolerant” homelands.

The constant, insistent use of the word “pride” indicates they’re trying mightily to counter the internal knowledge that they really don’t have any.

This is good, if they were around “Breeders” some may get pregnant, and go on to have children.
If this is genetic then segregation should wipe out the gene.

Pay attention to the language Homofascists use to make their opponents sound like nasty, violent, evil people.

A place where nobody disagrees with a gay person’s opinions = “safe”
People who support the gay political agenda = “allies” (What is this? A war? So if I disagree with a homosexual person’s political views, I am automatically his or her mortal enemy? I thought liberals frowned upon black-and-white thinking.)
Disagreeing with the homosexual agenda = “hate”

I never cared if they did what they wanted and kept me out of it. Open militant homosexuality makes my stomach turn and turns me against them.

We actually have a “rainbow” graduation at my school. All I can say to the participants is, what is it about liking to take a stick in your @ss that makes you unable to graduate alongside your straight classmates?

Homofascists are perpetually attention-hungry drama queens. It’s hard to get attention when one is held to the same standards as everyone else. So gays rely on their sexual “identity” (as if sexuality can be the sum of one’s identity), and on a dreadful persecution complex, to make them feel different and special.

Completely disgusting! Why do THEY need special treatment. Who will save and shield me from gay people. They are shoved in my attention 24/7, a teeny tiny portion of society is shoved in my face 24/7. I don’t make it a point to make sure everyone who sees me with their own eyes knows that “I am hetrosexual”. Gay will never be okay with me - got that, now understand it.

They want to be accepted, they want to be treated like everyone else, they don’t want to be discriminated against, etc. etc. Then they turn around and set themselves apart from everyone else? Makes about as much sense to me as the NAACP... You want your group/demographic to be treated like everyone else? (for any defining characteristic you care to name) then quit setting yourselves apart!

Just another reason I won’t be watching the olympics. With the politics, the cheating (with only certain countries bearing the brunt of the rules, others getting a free pass), the Olympics don’t mean what they once did. I won’t boost ratings for the sorry network that carries it.

Pride House..singular?....Why stop there?
They are painting homosexuals with a very broad brush. With a little imagination I can find cause to need 6-8 different houses to satisfy more of them (male-male, fem-fem, trannys, crossdressers and all the other perversions in between.

The Camel's nose has been followed by his entire stinking corpse...

Now - instead of celebrating national orientation at sporting events, we're organizing by sexual preference?

When will the Bestiality, Necrophilia, Sadomasochistic or Pedophilia houses be erected? In for a penny, in for a pound - recognize one group of perverts, recognize them all.

Amen. The ‘84 Olympics was the last good show they did. After that the event was watered down by the current 2-year cycle, the glory rapidly faded, the magic ebbed, and it became just another form of organized sports for an instant-gratification society.

I don’t understand ANY of the segregated housing, in an international Olympic setting.

It seems contrary to the essential and fundamental idea of the modern Olympics - athletes from around the world “getting together” around the idea of sports and honest sports competition.

I can understand separate practice facilities or at least separate practice schedules, for the different national teams. But separate housing for any reason seems contrary to the “Olympic” spirit.

As far as the additional separate “gay” housing goes, it may be a manifestation of the entire cultural influence of the liberated libido, and an erroneous (in my judgment) decision of the Olympic organizers that they must cater to it, in all the forms that the athletes may chose.

And, even in the area of the “gay games”, I can’t imagine any self-respecting athlete who happens to be “gay” even wanting to establish a record in a competition to which the majority of athletes for that competition were excluded. I think the modern games have shown that such games are unnecessary for the truly qualified “gay” athlete (i.e. Carl Lewis, Greg Louganis).
