Liz Cheney: Obama Should Stop Bashing My Dad, Cherry-Picking Intelligence (Video)
wowowow.com ^ | 5/12/2009 | Liz Cheney Interview

Posted on 05/12/2009 9:47:10 AM PDT by kellynla

Liz Cheney is defending her dad once again.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney recently defended the Bush administration’s handling of the War on Terror and criticized the Obama administration for making the nation "less safe," i.e., releasing details of interrogation techniques used on terror suspects. Cheney’s comments have been slammed by the White House, with spokesman Robert Gibbs saying Cheney should stop regurgitating "ideas and a series of thoughts" that "the last election rejected."

But Liz Cheney, a former State Department official, said on MSNBC today that her father is speaking out of genuine concern for the country and to make sure people know what has kept the country safe for the past eight years, and that her dad is willing to make himself available to the Obama administration to talk about what worked and what didn’t.

"I think that is very much the heart of the matter and I think because of that, he feels he has an obligation to speak out," Ms. Cheney said. "My dad feels very strongly that the current administration is making us less safe … It would be the easiest thing in the world for him to just go fishing and spend time with his grandkids."

Ms. Cheney also noted that former Vice President Al Gore was critical of the Bush administration when he left office, and Obama officials and Democrats never miss an opportunity to bash Bush, so why is Cheney getting all this flack?

"Nobody is sort of saying, ‘Gosh, the Obama administration needs to keep quiet about the Bush administration,’" she added.

She also agreed that the Obama administration is cherry-picking intelligence information to release — a charge echoed by Republicans who say the White House is only releasing memos on waterboarding and other intelligence documents that suit their political purposes. Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-MI, just this week called on the intelligence community to declassify documents showing what members of Congress — including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA — were told about interrogation techniques and when.

The media needs to "hold the administration’s feet to the fire on this," Ms. Cheney said. "People need to ask — when is the selective release of documents going to stop? … It’s really a dishonest game they’re playing."

Liz Cheney took after her Dad and is not afraid to tell it like it is. I am getting more impressed with her by the day — always liked her Dad going back to when he was in Congress.

I like and respect Chaney. Libs - (un)progressives - don’t like those who actually know what they’re talking about. Hence their dislike of Chaney.

You’re thinking of *Lynn* Cheney. Liz is his outspoken conservative daughter who like her father will NOT be silenced in speaking the truth about HolyO!

You're right.Temporary brain-lock,I guess. Is Liz the lesbian daughter? If so,her being conservative is pretty unusual.

I remember that — think she has a furture in politics. I wanted her Dad to be President because of his no nonsense approach. Every time I have heard him speak I am once again reminded how much I like the man. He is very witty and can send zingers with the best of him. His daughter is just like him.

“Robert Gibbs saying Cheney should stop regurgitating “ideas and a series of thoughts” that “the last election rejected.”

Ummmmm, if it’s so damaging to the gops, why wouldn’t Gibbs encourage to keep on keeping on?

Because maybe it’s not so damaging to the gops. Maybe it’s finger in o’s eye.

The difference is that Liz has had real jobs and has two extremely intelligent parents. Certainly she has inherited their intelligence.

Also, children imitate their parents, and she has two great parents from whom she has learned and imitated.

On the other hand, Ms Fat and Angry has never had a real job and has also learned to imitate her nasty father.

Therefore, there is difference between Liz and Ms. Fatty.

You go, Liz.

Thanks for the heads up...I'll record it.
Cheney can smack Cavuto around for a few minutes...
that is “if” Cavuto actually allows Cheney the opportunity to respond to his questions before he rudely interrupts which Cavuto has historically been apt to do.

Dick Cheney knows far more about national security and what is needed to achieve it than Gore knows about climate change. The difference is that Gore is a pedantic, lazy, scrotum scratcher who knows nothing of science or weather, and Cheney is a man who has proven his intelligence, in government and the private sector. If any VPs have to shut up, let it be the flunky Gore.

Liberals call him “Darth” in a disparaging way, yet they seem to forget DARTH VADER BECAME THE HERO OF THE STAR WARS SAGA in the last movie!!! :-)

I believe (if his health allowed) that Dick Cheney could be THE HERO of a new conservative party movement if he ran for president in 2012 with Sarah Palin as his VP...by then I figure a large majority of dims will NOT vote for a redux by this current president, historical or not! The RINOs who are trying to ‘remake’ the GOP into Dimmie-lite are a waste of time too—time for a third party to take over the party!

You know, George Washington declined to run several times as well in the first election, and he became convinced that he was needed in the office...I pray to God to convince Dick Cheney his country and his fellow Americans need him DESPERATELY! and that God will grant him miraculous healing to serve his country one more time!!

He declined to run in 1996 after investigating the possibility he has intimated there were things he was not prepared to do and possibly give up to be President.

IMHO some of the inane things that a candidate is expected to do on the campaign trail and even as President Dick Cheney thought were either a distraction to the job in hand and a waste of time whereas being VP he had virtually the same access as the President but only occasionally had to do the PR stuff.

I think his health was a second consideration and may have influenced his family advising him not to run but not him because as he has often said to be VP you must be prepared and able at any point to assume the mantle of President.

I don't believe that the majority of That One's voters even considered Foreign Policy when voting for him. It was the economy, stupid, and the fact that they considered him the 'cool black guy'.
