WASHINGTON, D.C. (ANS) -- The body of a kidnapped 5-year-old Christian boy was discovered riddled with gunshots in Iraq on May 11.
International Christian Concern (ICC) www.persecution.org has learned that Tony Adwar Shaweel was kidnapped on March 5, 2009 by an unknown group who demanded a ransom of $50,000.
ICC says the identity of Tony's kidnappers and murderers is still unknown. However, Christians in Iraq have been increasingly targeted by criminal gangs, Islamic extremists and other armed groups as part of a broader strategy to drive the Iraqi Christian population from country. Despite these appalling conditions, the media rarely reports violence against Christians in Iraq.
In a statement to ICC, Juliana Taimoorazy, president of the Iraqi Christian Relief Council, said, "On Sunday, May 10th, Christians in Chicago prayed in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in Iraq for peace and especially for the safe return of the kidnapped. Unfortunately, the following day, on Monday, the community was notified of the discovery of his body. The Iraqi Christians in Chicago are mourning the loss of yet another one of their own."
Taimoorazy added: "What we need is for the American government to take notice of this dire situation. We are demanding that the State Department work on passing legislation, which would ensure the protection of the Chaldo-Assyrian Christians in their own homeland.
"We want to live peacefully side by side with the other citizens in Iraq. This situation has long gone unnoticed. We implore the international community to pay attention and unite in helping the sons and daughters of those who gave so much to civilization over 6,700 years ago."
ICC's Regional Manager for Africa and the Middle East, Jonathan Racho, said: "This latest unconscionable act indicates the deteriorating situation for Christian minorities in Iraq. It is also a clear sign of the danger that all Iraqi Christians face in the country. We call upon the Iraqi and the United States government to put an end to the systematic extermination of Christians from Iraq."
Please pray for the family of Tony and all the persecuted Christians in Iraq.
You may also go to www.house.gov to find the information of your elected officials and alert them to the killing of Tony and ask them to pressure Iraqi officials to protect Iraqi Christians.
ICC is a Washington-DC based human rights organization that exists to help persecuted Christians worldwide. ICC provides Awareness, Advocacy, and Assistance to the worldwide persecuted Church.
This just in:
Obama provides 20 million to help Hamas refugees escape “Israli persecution”, but not one red cent to protect Iraqi Christians.
Oh dear Lord God........please, PLEASE protect Your people...
Praying in agreement...
In Jesus’ Holy Name.
Amen.
These people are truly evil....

Kirkuk Police Seek to Ease Ethnic Tension
By Army Pfc. Justin Naylor
Special to American Forces Press Service
KIRKUK, Iraq, May 13, 2009 Provincial police representatives in Iraqs Kirkuk province met May 4 with Christian leaders in Kirkuk city to address concerns about increased violence against Kirkuk’s Christian minority.
Only about 3 percent of Iraq’s total population — about 800,000 Iraqis — are Christian.
“Anyone that targets you, targets us also,” said Maj. Gen. Turhan, the Kirkuk city deputy police chief, a Kurdish Muslim.
Two attacks April 26 left three Christian residents of Kirkuk dead and two others injured, the third series of attacks targeting Christians in the city in recent months.
“Our history has always coincided with yours,” Turhan said at the meeting.
Following the attack, Iraqi police began visiting Christians in their homes to reassure them of police presence and to create lines of communication that the Christians could use in case of emergencies.
Unlike in the aftermath of attacks in the past, Christians did not flee the city this time, Turhan said. For some, he added, the attacks only redoubled their determination to stay in Kirkuk and prove that they will not be frightened away.
“We feel safe here, and we are planning on staying,” one Christian told Turhan.
A Christian representative at the meeting commended the polices efforts to protect them. “We have received great support from the [police], and they responded to the attacks well,” he said.
Christian neighborhoods and churches are receiving special attention and extra security to prevent further bloodshed, police officials said.
Following the attacks, police operations surged and three suspects believed to be involved in the murders were arrested.

What kind of sadistic a-hole could shoot a 5 years old in cold blood.?
Answer: A Muslim.
“Obama provides 20 million to help Hamas refugees escape Israli persecution, but not one red cent to protect Iraqi Christians.”
Well, NV, that’s just a fine American tradition established by Bush./s $400,000,000.00 for Fatah, $400,000,000.00 for the KLA and hundreds and hundreds of billions and thousands of dead American military to bring the joys of freedom and democracy to the Mohammedans. Obama’s a small time piker when it comes to subsidizing Mohammedanism!
Yep, let’s bring it right around to Bush. That’s the perfect way to defend the indefensible. Good job...
Something doesn't sound right ... shouldn't they have decapitated the boy? Riddling with bullets just doesn't sound like a crazed Jihadist .... more like those Somali pirates allegedly in it for the money.
Um, not real appropriate here.
Unless you can change the past.
And do you have a reference to those figures?
Can’t find one.
Where is the outrage from our Dear Leader and his crowd. Nary a peep. But waterboarding, well, that is truly an abomination.
Talk about hypocrites, that is the very definition of the Marxist’s who now occupy the WH and control the House and Senate.
Is there any confirmation that this actually happened? All I see are reports from ‘interested’ sources with all the credibility of, say, The Brady Campaign.

“Um, not real appropriate here.”
And why, pray tell, is that? Not PC?
Thanks for the references. I’m going to go through them for the info!
It’s not appropriate because you can’t really change the past.
Now and the future is all that can be changed.
This administration could correct the mistakes and missteps but doesn’t really see a need to.
Hope you have a happy islam day hawaii
