Now who’s resorting to absurdity? No one is discussing book or film burning. Actually, you are the one telling US to shut up.

My point stands regardless of your protestations — no one needs to stand by and be silent when a movie invents absurdities about something they stand for or believe in.

"...you are the one telling US to shut up.

Never!

I respect each and every well thought out opinion I read....for the most part because most folks are far more intelligent than I.

However, and opinion stated as "fact" becomes scary, in particular when it directs me to do or not do something.

That's not an opinion...it's a dictate! And we all know who makes "dictates" now, don't we?

You need to look for and read a book called the Asti Spumante Code. It is a send-up of the genre and hilarous...

Here is what you wrote to the poster who originally posted this article:

....please get out of the way. We'd like to get into the theater and don't need you standing out front in your sack cloth and ashes moaning about the "historicity" or lack thereof, of any movie, let alone this one. Can do? Thanks!

I'll let you consider what "don't need you standing out front in your sack cloth and ashes moaning about the 'historicity' or lack thereof..." means to you, but to me it sounds like -- stop badmouthing this movie and letting 'facts' cloud your judgment of it. Because I sure don't see the OP advocating standing in front of movie theaters. Much less in sack cloth. It's quite funny that you originally dismissed the content of my post based on the absurd example I used. But here you are.

And I read the whole article just to make sure I wasn't endorsing an article that is based on innuendo and has nothing to do with the movie's facts (or lack thereof). Everything Bill Donohue stated in his piece seems to make sense. Please enlighten us if there is something that you find non-factual and just opinion based.

Disclaimer: I'm not a Catholic, and do not even profess any great love of the Catholic Church. There are some really valid things to ding them on historically speaking.

If you saw Tom Hanks on Letterman HE KNEW how bad the movie was and was hoping for a major outcry from the Catholic Church to give this ‘dog’ some buzz and possibly sell more tickets.

A friend of mine is a movie buff and he insists Ron Howard is the most boring director ever.

Just saw the movie today. Even though it was very unrealistic in many ways, it wasn’t overtly anti-catholic. It portrayed the church as conflicted but not necessary as bad. For the most part it was a good movie. Much better than the first one.

I don’t mean to be rude, but I couldn’t care less...
the FACTS are that Ron Howard is just another anti-Catholic bigot. PERIOD

Another interesting book was The Romanov Prophecy, which was a wonderful read, so long as you didn't look too closely at the facts. I'm sorry, but as crazy as the CIA sometimes is, there is no way that during the height of the Cold War they'd send a black agent into the Soviet Union and expect him to blend in...nope, not going to happen.

I won’t lose my faith because of any of these movies.

But does that mean we should support the secularization and coarsening of our culture by contributing money to these projects?

“I’m still going to watch movies.”

Your time and your money...

Personally, I have better things to do with my time and my money than to spend both on this trash.

To: kellynla; All

I usually only boycott a movie when it has clearly bad political overtones or if the director/producer is donating to evil causes. Do you know if Ron Howard doing anything like that?

I can only hope that terrorists take this book as fact. Please, please, PLEASE waste all of your time and resources on an antimatter bomb!!! While antimatter-matter may release 10 orders of magnitude more energy than a conventional explosive, at least half of that energy is wasted as neutrinos and the other half is spread widely over the electromagnetic spectrum. A chemical explosive releases most of its energy along a much narrower (in comparison) range of spectra, meaning more directed energy. So, please bankrupt yourself developing antimatter weapons, when a truck full of TNT would do you just as good...
