They're ALL comfortable to me. I have a hard time choosing.
:-)
I’ve seen shotgun wounds from 3-5 yards.
Regardless of what gun experts say based on gelatin, bird shot will take you down. If it hits you in the trunk, there is a hole big enough for your fist and everything inside is blended to a thick sludge. If it hits you in an extremity, the extremity is usually not salvagable.
Buck shot will penetrate drywall and remain lethal. If I lived alone, I would consider it but I share my house with 4 other people.
I’ve seen dozens of people hit with multiple rounds of everything from .22 to .45 and wander into the ER hours later under their own power. I’ve never seen anyone take a round of birdshot close up and walk away.
I’ll take your first-hand experience on the matter. I’ve seen what #4 shot can do to a piece of plywood at 20’ - and I wouldn’t want to be standing in the way for sure! I did put a deer out of its misery after I hit it with my truck - so I know that a #8 trap load from a foot away will do the trick too.
