Obama Is Said to Consider Preventive Detention Plan (Flush the Constitution!)
NY Slimes (Page A18!!!) ^ | 5/21/2009 | SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

WASHINGTON — President Obama told human rights advocates at the White House on Wednesday that he was mulling the need for a “preventive detention” system that would establish a legal basis for the United States to incarcerate terrorism suspects who are deemed a threat to national security but cannot be tried, two participants in the private session said.

The discussion, in a 90-minute meeting in the Cabinet Room that included Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and other top administration officials, came on the eve of a much-anticipated speech Mr. Obama is to give Thursday on a number of thorny national security matters, including his promise to close the detention center at the naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

Human rights advocates are growing deeply uneasy with Mr. Obama’s stance on these issues, especially his recent move to block the release of photographs showing abuse of detainees, and his announcement that he is willing to try terrorism suspects in military commissions — a concept he criticized bitterly as a presidential candidate.

The post-partisan America in several decades: driving a POS electric government car at 10 mph, getting stopped by ACORN DHS union thugs every 2 miles to have one's papers, phone cards, waistlines, and drink holders examined, driving to AmeriBank (the only bank in the country, operated by the federal reserve) to deposit skin, hair, and urine specimens (Patriot Act III qualifications to detect evidence of gunpowder exposure, tobacco use, non-diet Pepsi consumption, meat consumption, super-quota diet supplementation, and unlicensed reproductive acts) and withdraw meal credits so as to use at the local UN food dispensary to pick up a monthly allotment of government tofu-cheese and People's Gruel before being shipped off to either Iraq (Overseas Contingency Operation Enduring Pacification, year 46), Sudan (Overseas Contingency Operation Soaringly Enduring Democracy, year 19), or Somalia (Overseas Contingency Operation Enduring Restoration of Hope and Change, year 4) to put on a blue helmet and hold a shovel while being shot at by Kalashnikov-wielding neolithic recipients of (apparently insufficient) US welfare payments - or, if "national service" is refused, before being subjected to government propaganda for 20 hours a day at a level III FEMA reeducation camp until either social conversion is deemed to be achieved or until you are found to be a genetic match and thus involuntary organ donor to the requisite number of protected-class individuals (possibly as low as one, depending upon how many protected groups the individual is a member of) as to justify your demise for their survival (the common good).

No paragraph break needed above - that is all one sentence.

I nominate this for Best Rant of 2009. It's a freakin' masterpiece! Well done!

Using the Constitution as a backdrop, he disgraces it.

Using Catholic Priests and Bishops as a props, he advocates the killing of children.

Using the Military as a backdrop, he slashes the defense budget.

For some of the terrorists at Gitmo, this may be necessary.

Lest ye forget, DHS has called all conservatives "potential terrorists". We would be the kind of folks put into preventative detention, not muslim fanatics captured on the battlefield.

Me, too, but there are those who are busy buying up ammo with their credit cards who are afraid of ending up on a "list" somewhere...

Crazy, isn't it? You can't stay under the radar forever.

I'd rather have "the list" so large that it scares the crap out of anyone who wants to take us on.

I'm a Life Member of the NRA, subscribe to gun magazines, buy ammo and supplies on the net, and DHS can watch me all day long. They'll see my Gadsden Flag (they need to see millions of them). I might have to change to the Gonzales Flag soon.

What I would really like to see is another 20 to 30 million NRA members I wonder how many on this site aren't members and why.

I have been encouraged by the many posts from FReepers who say they still don't own a gun, but joined the NRA to support our freedoms.

As for gun owners who think they can hide by not being on a "list", they are only fooling themselves, and making us look weaker than we are. It only encourages the enemy to attack.

Watch for 0bama's Reichstag Fire, and be ready for what's coming.

OThuga is a place holder, stalking horse, forerunner. And probably considered a fairly expendable one, at that.

Agree with the 'ONE' being a place holder; he can do little that would be considered original. As for being expendable; true; OTOH; he makes a perfect empty suit President; for now. Guess we will have to see how much of the Constitution we have left in four years - or less.

From 'A Russian Diary'/Anna Politkovsskaya; murdered journalist:

[Forming a political opposition in Russia became a practical impossibility. . .

Firstly, we lack an independent Judiciary. An opposition has to be able to appeal to an independent Legal system. Secondly, we lack independent national mass Media. . .Thirdly; there are no independent sources of Finance for anything substantial. In the absence of these three fundamentals it is impossible to create a viable political opposition. . .There is no democracy now in Russia, because democracy without an opposition is impossible. . .

Were we seeing a crisis of Russian Parliamentary democracy in the Putin era? No, we were witnessing it's death.]

Ugly parallels here, of course; in the message for 'change'.

Unless I am sorely mistaken, the prisoners at Gitmo were captured “on the battleground” so to speak, actively fighting against the US, or they are wanted for specific crimes.
That is quite different from deciding somebody is a threat based on Lord knows what criteria, and incarcerating them presumably before they commit a crime.

There was a post just a few days ago from a Freeper whose son was allowed to debate the abortion issue. The whole class was against him and the one other pro-life person at the beginning. They argued, pleaded, shared facts, to no avail. Finally one morning they came in before class and put up pictures all around the classroom of aborted babies (I believe he said the teacher was a conservative ex-Marine who was okay with this). The ENTIRE CLASS changed their minds, some of the girls nearly sick & in tears, but the message was brought home. I wish I had bookmarked that thread, it was on one of the ones about Notre Dame recently. That doesn’t answer your question, but maybe it is just time now for all of us to stand up and have courage to say and do the right thing. If things ever get as insane here as it was in Russia, trying to hide our views or be wishy washy won’t protect us. It seems it was an epidemic of fear that brought them to that position. Easy for me to say now when I’m not risking anything but I just believe if more Christians/conservatives had courage to speak out things would change. My two cents...

Thanks for your 2 cents! (Boy - sure get your money’s worth around here!).

That is a great idea. Put in some photos of cat-scans of a fetus at the various stages and then at birth. Followed by images of the aborted baby at each stage.

If you put this "reservation of power" in perspective with Napolitano's report warning of veterans being like the Oklahoma bomber, it is extremely chilling. This admin. thinks anyone against its policies is dangerous (to their power grab) and I can actually see them trying to lock up private citizens. They would be placing battlefield detention of combatants in no uniform on the same par with detaining without cause any citizen speaking out against this Admin's shredding of the Constitution. This Admin is extremely thin skinned and cannot tolerate criticism.

Think about it!

I'd rather have "the list" so large that it scares the crap out of anyone who wants to take us on.

Heck, we're all on it anyway, if we have been the least bit activist about our rights, or ever decried the crap the Government has pulled. We are 'dissidents', and we are armed, 'nuff said.

As for the ones who would hide under the bed with the dust kittens, they should expect no kinder, gentler treatment. If anyone gets dragged to the camps, they'll go, too, only in shame that just having made their voice heard might have made the difference.

Sure, some people think that by "compromising" they can avoid being branded, but in for a penny, and in for a pound. (The alphabet soup agency guys will still trash your place and grill you about the 'off the books' weapons you are sure to have...)

I'm well enough known among the local constabulary, and have held a CCW permit for over 10 years, NRA for 20, etc. I have filled out enough 4473s to come up on the screen.

And anyone who has filled out one will be on there sooner or later.

There is no way to stay off the radar without some really careful moves, and most people have already got their name on 'the list' before they even think about staying off it.

Interesting that you should say that. If I were O's enforcers, I would start out with voter registrations. All non-Dems go into the pool. Then start sub categorizing via other red flags that are a matter of public record. Membership in organizations like the NRA, any sort of conservative interest group or lobbying group, Christian related organizations, any sort of connection that implies a resistance to "GroupThink".

I would keep records of all phone call numbers to Dem congressman and the WH. Ditto for any written correspondence to same. Pretty easy to create a formidable relational database.

Crawl the web, take legal action against conservative online groups that forces them to give me any and all personal info on members and posters. Ex: all the CC records from the Freepathon. You donate $10 to FR and you are marked.

It is basically impossible to have ever expressed an opinion critical of liberalism that won't implicate you in a way that I can't find.

And there will always be the low tech tried and true tactic of rewarding our liberal neighbors and coworkers for spying on us and reporting us. Read some of the lib sites, these people are salivating at the possibility of reporting on others and seeing them sent off for "re-education".

Once it begins in earnest, it will be a dam breaking.

Every firearms dealer (FFL) who has gone out of business has had to turn in their records to the BATFE. Anyone who has purchased a firearm through one of those dealers is doubtless in the database, and Clinton's lackeys went whole hog after 'kitchen table' dealers who did not have a storefront, and have managed to get over half of the FFLs to throw in the towel since Bubba got elected.

Add in the NICS data the BATF was not supposed to keep, and there is a substantial list going back years.

It would not take much more, since no warrant is required when 'terrorism' is involved, to go after people ordering ammo on the net, gun parts, web gear, magazines, rifle scopes and other optics, and the list goes on and on.

Maybe those are all the jobs the Obamites are whipping up, aside from 'camp counselors' and other lovelies, be it for all those 'volunteering' kids, or their recalcitrant parents.

At any rate, I am sure there is a long list of criteria which the obamites can use to screen mountains of data.

So, it comes down to this: you can stand and be counted, and by that act if no other, perhaps cause this juggernaut to slow or even stop its progress, or you can lay down and get run over by it.

I'd rather go out on my feet if it comes to that.

Does that make me an 'extremist'? Only if being a coward has become the norm.

If we do not stand up for our rights when it only takes a word, a letter, unashamedly decrying the absolute anti-Constitutional crap this administration is pulling, who among us will have the guts to stand armed against it?

For now, we have a war of words and ideas. We have ample supplies of both, even as people stockpile for a less desireable outcome.

I have little doubt that should the political divide be filled with violence, the UN will, if the Socialist forces start losing, step in, balkanize, occupy, and 'peacekeep' us, and our Nation will be divided and done.

The only way to stop their intimidation is to counter intimidate, to stand tall and unapologetic for our God-given rights, our Constitution, and our Country. We owe it to our children's children.

I concur with all but this. The UN can't and couldn't muster enough manpower and hardware to occupy a major state. I also don't think any of the UN players that would be needed have the balls, or practically speaking, the resources.

The US is a very large country with a great diversity in geography. The logistics of occupying this country against a hostile populace are almost beyond comprehension. And the populace is better armed than probably any other in the industrialized west.

People are apparently willing to let our own government enslave us, but foreign troops? Not going to happen. No, I think our real peril lies within. Treachery on the part of your liberal neighbors.

So he wants American Citizens rights for Muslim Terrorist's caught in the act of war against America, so he wants to close Gitmo.

But then he wants to open Gitmo’s across the land to incarcerate American Citizens, so that they no longer have the rights he wants for Muslims, but wants Americans that he decides are a threat to his Government to have the same rights as Muslim terrorists caught in the act of war.

This is exactly the surrender terms I would expect had we lost the war with Islam.

Ie, Barack Hussain Obama is most likely a Muslim, and we lost the war by a coup engineered by the Democratic party, with their payoff being that they would be allowed to rape the banks as the country fell.

Is there something wrong with my line of thought? Because I cannot see it.
