All those ladies she resembles are nice ladies with real, productive jobs. Note she doesn’t look like the community organizer who registers you to vote six times, or the lawyer who prosecutes enlisted men for doing their duty.

We established in another thread that she, and perhaps not his mother, is the dirty whore in the family who does not appear on TV.

Imagine that man taking Johnny Carson’s place! They were having none of it!

“Help him get off the TV.”

Imus’ nappie headed ho comment was far less offensive in content.

Cost him his job at CBS.

Suburbanite daughters get drunk, tattooed and screwed at the same rate as “rednecks” or the “lumpenprole”. Remember that stupid suburbanites voted Obama into office, to feel good.
Sarah will run as Sarah, if she’s smart. This is her strong suit.
The press won’t give up savaging her, no matter what. Don’t forget the Sinatra/Nancy Davis stories, but have you seen any Chappiquiddick stories of late?

singing proudly along with "redneck girl"

Hey! I sing along with that song and I'll put my "sophistication" up against yours any day...Oh wait, I don't' have any tattoos....never-mind :)

I agree with everything you said except: “Red Neck Woman” is a really catchy tune. It’s very hard not to sing along with it and Sarah is no Minnie Pearl.

I maintain that NBC did FAR better with Leno than they would have with Letterman.

I agree with you. I used to count the number of Bush vs Gore/Clinton jokes Leno used in his opening monologues. It came out about even most nights. There was a time that I wasn't totally convinced that Leno was a Lib. because of it (naive, I know).

I stopped watching him many years ago so I don't know how much he changed since.

Minnie Pearl was an American treasure. She would have made a better President than me, but that isn't saying much.

Sarah has to learn to speak to a larger electorate to show competance and disprove all of her naysayers a la Ronaldus Magnus. Reagan had a very hostile media too, but he was able to project competance, charm, and strength that went way over the heads of the Dan Rathers of the world and straight to the mass of Americans, whether in New Jersey, Alabama, or California.

You should hear my rendition of Dennis Leary's "A--hole," or, then again, no. ;)

Looking forward to seeing clips of the Palin interview on Today.

Letterman is like George Carlin: funny for a long time but then got old and angry...and out of ideas. His time on the national scene is over. He should leave while he’s near the bottom. Of course his rear-end is already scraping the bottom of the garbage pile.

Compared to that perv Letterman, Leno is the epitome of good taste.

But my orientation is toward betterment not toward the least common denominator.

I maintain that NBC did FAR better with Leno than they would have with Letterman.

I don't recall contesting that. But you win the hypothetical, Leno was less crappy than perhaps Letterman.

Sometimes the least common denominator is the best we can hope for. Is that our best aspiration? Not at all. Is it the face of reality more often than not? Unfortunately so.

The best answer of all is to turn off the TV, cut off the power cord (the only part actually worthy of salvage) and throw the bug-eyed monster into the trash.

Or off the tallest building you can find after shouting “Look out below!” ;)

It’s my understanding that when the choice for the successor to Johnny Carson was still unresolved, that Letterman seemed to think he had a birthright to take over the show due to his many years of holding down the late late night position, but the numbers that Leno produced both as a comic and as Carson’s permanent guest host suggested to NBC that Leno had a wider appeal.

To his credit, Carson reportedly refused to take sides and would not endorse one potential successor over the other although he apparently emphathized with Letterman over what appeared to be a deliberate shafting by NBC.

In the end, NBC was right to do so and lost nothing by Letterman flying the coop.

It’s a good thing he did not call Palin a “nappy headed ho” or he’s be in real trouble!

Almost, except he was never as funny and ran out of ideas a lot sooner.

Rahal Letterman Racing did participate in the Indianapolis 500 this year. When the announcer pointed him out on the big screens (since he’s a celebrity), the crowds weren’t overly impressed with him (not much cheering).....and Letterman is actually from Indiana. Florence Henderson and Jim Nabors received lots of cheering. Go figure.
