It is not dead yet. I am following it, but what is posted here is all I know about the situation and so I am attempting to learn what is going on before I make any comments.

My opinion of Twitter just went up a notch big time.. Ditto that, I just created an account for myself and am following the New Iran thread. Click the link, tons of video links to YouTube documenting the protests. VERY INTERESTING.

Should have gone to bed a long time ago, but got caught up in watching this unfold on twitter.
Amazing.

Scotswife, same here. I was up late last night nightfishing and totally wiped out this morning. I had planned on being in bed by 9:00... After 12:30 am now.
It’s hard to stopping “watching” the events like this when they’re happening.

What you have to remember about twitter is this: It can be anyone on their talking. Might be an Iranian giving straight news, might be some kid in his mom's basement giving out false info. I tend to stick to the pictures in this Iranian mess, they are telling the story better than anything. If you know the people who are twittering then, fine, if you don't it may not be what it sounds like. The pics from Iran are showing a huge protest and much violence. However, it is hard to confirm whether people are actually dying, although I suspect some are in crowds that size.
CNN and the other state run media should be ashamed of themselves for not covering this.

So I’m wondering about the tweets concerning the university.Do any of the pic confirm confrontation w/ the students?
To: Scotswife
I haven’t seen any pics of the University or the students. I have seen plenty of people rioting in the streets and many with head wounds from the police. OTH, they are fighing back, burning police motorcycles etc. At least one pic showed them attacking a policeman, they had hold of him. Go onto twitter and there are links to both videos and still pictures. Huge crowds early in the day were surging down the streets.

An aside: This whole Tweeter business is looking pretty useful... The totalitarians of the world are noticing as well, and are probably hard at work figuring out countermeasures like massive spam attacks or DDOS. Twitter comes into its own as a vehicle for large numbers of people to pass along information about an event.

BBC says election broadcasts disrupted from Iran:
The BBC said Sunday that the satellites it uses to broadcast in Persian were being jammed from Iran, disrupting its reports on the hotly-disputed presidential election.
The corporation said television and radio services had been affected from 1245 GMT Friday onwards by "heavy electronic jamming" which had become "progressively worse".
Satellite technicians had traced the interference to Iran, it said.

The Atlantic reports:
Yes, the president of Iran's own election monitoring commission has declared the result invalid and called for a do-over. That is huge news: when a regime's own electoral monitors beak ranks, what chance does the regime have of persuading anyone in the world or Iran that it has democratic legitimacy
