RE: Khameni just folded on investigating the election.

Just a ploy to get the crowd to back off. Nothing will come of an investigation. “We investigated, We won.”

I wonder how long they will let this go on? FOX has an Iranian on now- he says the mullahs are surprised by the ferocity of the demonstrations- but that after they do the so-called investigation of the election and the results are the same- then it will be really, REALLY bad.

Per Robert Gibbs at the White House: We are concerned, and continue to concerned.

Geeesh Gibbs- that’s the BEST the intellectual geniuses in The White House can come up with?

The Iranians don’t want their islamic republic any longer. They want freedom. O-zero can’t have any of that. He wants a caliphate. So O-zero doesn’t come out with a statement. Heck, I could be wrong but it sure is looking that way.

Would love to hear Ollie North’s thoughts on what is going on.

This is starting to look really, really big. My impression is the regime is facing a very angry public that won’t be easily repressed this time. Some reports imply that the goons are Arabs from Lebanon. No surprise there.

Obama and his administration are AWOL. He’ll apologize soon, but beyond that he won’t do a thing. How could he? He’s so far tried to legitimize these brutes.

WSJ article for the thread:

The Iranian Rebellion
Will Obama stand with Tehran’s democratic reformers?.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124501928874713539.html#mod=rss_opinion_main

(snip)

“The vote should prompt Mr. Obama to rethink his pursuit of a grand nuclear bargain with Iran, though early indications suggest he plans to try anyway. On Saturday, the New York Times quoted one unnamed senior Administration official to the effect that the election uproar would cause Mr. Ahmadinejad to be more receptive to Mr. Obama’s overtures as a sop to disgruntled public opinion. If the Administration really believes this, then Mr. Obama is the second coming of Jimmy Carter and the mullahs will play him for time to get their bomb.”

Can you believe the WH spin? Unbelievable!

It’s all very ironic, how the university protests have changed for him since 1979.

Do we know what politics are like inside the Iranian military, though? One thing the Chinese had to do in order for Tiananmen to happen was pull out the units that are usually based around Beijing and instead use units from more rural areas, because they were concerned that soldiers drawn from urban areas would be too sympathetic to the students. The military is young, and drawn from the same population that's producing the rioters. Are they willing to kill as many of their countrymen as it takes? The Revolutionary Guard, maybe, but I doubt there are enough of them.

I’m getting the feeling that they don’t think they can rely on home-grown goons this time around.

We would do well to take note of the tactics, which could very well be used against “us” in the near future.

The Iranians don’t want their islamic republic any longer. They want freedom....

So did a whole lot of Chinese students two decades ago. Guess what they got instead. Sorry, but the ayatollah's Revolutionary Guards will have the last say in this; and, afterwards, you're going to see a lot more burkas, beatings, and blood on the streets of Tehran.

twitter-

@BabakMehrabani is saying that he was beaten by a baton and his right hand is numb. He is twitting with the left hand.

They blocked all the streets ends to university!

Tens of thousands of protestors are chanting “No fear, No fear, we are with each other”.

In Shiraz there r around 300 “Basiji” in Sinama Sadi cross. They r being fully armed with shields & batons.

Other cities also having their own parades but with MORE oppression; Mashhad, Babol, Tabriz, ...
