If the liberal loons would have just shut up after the election in 2008, perhaps Sarah Palin would have been forgotten, a mere footnote in history.
The problem is, the liberal loons just can't help themselves, and are genetically encoded to attack anyone with ideas they deem repellent.
If you're pro life, you're an superstitious idiot. If you're against homosexual marriages you're a evil bigot. If you dare to question global warming, you're a dupe for big business. If you own a gun and like to hunt you're a mindless barbarian.
We all know the predictable screed from the irrational leftist loons.
Sarah Palin reminds the progressive nutjobs of these things, and stands as a symbol for them to mobilize against, mock, and demean. Democrats have a long history of this, calling Ronald Reagan a cowboy, Bush 41 a secret spook, Quayle a dummy, and Bush 43 a boob.
Sarah Palin represents everything the goons on the left stand against.
When you add that to the fact she's smart, good looking, and has a deadly sense of humor-- well, you have the possibility the first female president of the USA could force the first black president of the USA out of office after one term.
Things had better go well for Obama in the next three years, because they will go swimmingly for Palin.
Palin has put together a deal with TransCanada, a pipeline building company, and Exxon, of the oil producing fame, to build a new pipeline from Alaska to the continental USA that will transport NATURAL gas.
I'm not sure many Americans yet realize, but natural gas is going to be a HUGE transitional fuel as we seek "independence from foreign oil supplies."
Natural gas is going to be a very large factor in fueling our cars, as well as our buildings, mainly because the USA has a very large reserve of natural gas at their disposal, and Palin has perfectly positioned herself to take advantage of this confluence of events.
This project ALONE will keep her in the news for the next few years, and I'm sure we can count on the leftist loons like David Letterman to keep her in the headlines as well.

I think the thing with Letterman was grandstanding.
She had every right to be personally insulted, but to say his comment about her daughter threatened the self-esteem of millions of young women was hyperbolic and ludicrous, and the kind of thing that drives people away.
Instead of playing to every media outlet in the world, she should have simply called him an *sshole, then sat back and smiled. That would have been impressive. Understatement is more effective than showing up on the tube again and again and again, saying the same thing over and over.
Thanks for your reply, you are kind to have sympathy for me. I understand people mean well. Life is tough and sometimes it’s not always easy for people to see what is right. I know I always have to consider that possibility myself.
Don’t go knocking people who went to college, Palin went and it appears she is in the habit of doing a bit of plagiarism. That would explain why a college grad is so inarticulate. This country is in a big heck of trouble. Palin is the conservative version of Clinton. And that is very bad news for the survival of this country since so many in the conservative cause are enabling Palin’s lack of ethics. Ethics 101 teaches that the ends don’t justify the means. And that is a lesson that the journalist major missed. Of course, who needs to learn lessons when you cheat. It is clear, open your eyes! Academics doesn’t matter? Bull, it matters to Palin, only she didn’t want to do the work!

She didn’t “play every media ouitlet...” she said what was called for and proper without stooping to your gutter-level vernacular. And she didn’t “show up again and again...” as your leftist talking point email offered. She blew him off the globe with her first comment, and responded briefly to his “apologies.”

Agreed. What I really find disconcerting is the near religious (can you say Obama?) reverence some seem to have for Palin, yet no one can articulate a good reason for her perceived superiority. It’s also some nebulous, vacant comment about her being one of “us”, common sense, a “real” American.
I’ve come to realize that to many, if you live in a municipality with population larger than your average apartment complex, you’re regarded as some sort of city dwelling alien with no concept of reality. This is the person that seems to be drawn to Palin worship the most heavily.

Perhaps. But you beg the question: How do you quantify sensibility? Academic success and intellectual accomplishments are easily identified and understood. Sensibility like you attribute to your grandfather is much less so. As a matter of fact, without intimately knowing someone, I’d say it would be impossible to gauge. Even knowing someone, it’s extremely subjective and IMHO unreliable.

While I value education, have worked in the field at the collegiate level in the classroom, have always advised students and young friends to pursue an education as far as they can, and have used it as a factor in hiring in my own business, I also have perspective on its limitations.
How does one judge the performance of an individual with a myriad of degrees certifications etc. until they actually perform their job? Certainly academic success can demonstrate the ability to complete tasks of varying levels of difficulty. You get a known quantity certainly, but will it apply to the task at hand.
It is like I used to tell my new hires fresh from school. You have the degree or certs so I know you can use the terms properly in a sentence, now lets see if you can actually do something with it.
Looking back one who places so high a price on education above all else would have dismissed Ronald Reagan as having mediocre abilities at best and William Jefferson Clinton as being an all-star.
We see how that worked out.
I give the same deference to Palin. I don't know if I will support her in the long run, but a lack of educational bonafides or "ivy" (got it right that time) league credentials does not make her an idiot nor does a lack of knowledge in certain areas make her an ignoramus. Indeed to rise to the level she has in her career does require at least a modicum of ability and intelligence regardless of the political persuasion. Furthermore dismissing her for those reason is exactly her strength in many ways. It is always the one you least expect that tend to get you in the end.
