Japan warns that North Korea may fire missile at U.S. on Independence Day

North Korea may launch a long-range ballistic missile towards Hawaii on American Independence Day, according to Japanese intelligence officials.

The missile, believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a range of up to 4,000 miles, would be launched in early July from the Dongchang-ni site on the north-western coast of the secretive country.

Intelligence analysts do not believe the device would be capable of hitting Hawaii's main islands, which are 4,500 miles from North Korea.

Details of the launch came from the Japan's best-selling newspaper, Yomiuri Shimbun.

Both Japanese intelligence and U.S. reconnaissance satellites have collated information pointing to the launch, according to the report.

Is there a law that circumvents the use of the “launch codes” in the event of a CIC (coward in chief)?

In honor of glorious event for choosing of new Dearest Leader for the great People’s Communist Hermit Hovel, and for celebration of independence, three Small Wang III missiles will be launched into the sea, with a great celebration to commemorate this glorious defeat of the surface tensions in the general directions of America. /ror

I have heard liberals say that it is a waste of money as it is only 50% effective. Well if you have two warheads, one headed for New York, one for Philadelphia, saving one city is better than losing two.

Earlier on Fox they described the projected flight of the missile would be over S. Korea and Japan. If this were so and the US is signed to protect those two States then would we have rights to intercept and destroy said missile?

How quick would the United States respond if North Korea attacked the United States?

If the Navy or the Air Force stop the attack in air, what would happen next, would the US retaliate?

Obama will want to negotiate with the missile while en route. Barring that he can sign an executive order which demands the missile land harmlessly in the ocean - away from any sea creatures, of course...

Guys, this could be very serious. It is rocket science, after all. The norks shoot these missles off and really don't know where they are going to land. The send them east, out over the Pacific and, chances are, they will land in the water. However, there is some chance they will land on something, and, after they clear Japan, that something is all sovereign US territory.

Think about it, every shot so far has failed, short. What if they kind of get it right, and they are bound to sooner or later. What if they set it for 4000 miles and it ends up at 4500, close to Honolulu? What would Obama do then?
