What a jerk...and to treat his family like this over the Father's day weekend. I don't care if the Dems do it every day...these people are immoral and untrustworthy, no matter who they are.

I wonder if he thinks cheating on his wife was worth it.

Oh, and now he wants to get his heart right. And he says he was selfish...and he was crying the last days..What a JERK. He should have thought of that before he got so involved in adultery. We all have a free will and he should know right from wrong.

I say, get the heck out of public life Sanford. You've disappointed too many people and now why don't you just go away and pay the consequences.

I am totally mad at this guy, who could have had a brilliant career. Just as I am totally mad at Newt Gingrich....for cheating on his wife back in the Clinton days. If Newt wouldn't have had his own cheating going on....Bill Clinton would have been impeached. Newt was totally ineffective during that time.

Won't these politicians ever learn? They're in the public eye and wouldn't it be wonderful if they would be role models with outstanding character?

I’m really torn here. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone sins. Forgiveness is what saves us all. If he has not been derelict in his duty as Governor he should not be impeached. My question for myself is: would I vote for a man with so little personal integrity? Would I want a man whose family can’t trust him to be President?

I have no argument against religious people, until they carry that belief into politics and demand an elected office be an extension of their church.

We’ve lost some strong allies of conservatism over this nonsense and in the end, Democrats now hold dictatorial power.

Personally, I could care less if someone is an atheist, if they are conservative, we need their alliance.

And no, to others reading this, conservatism isn’t necessarily confined to your church.

It is both. The voters take the big part but a-holes like this only make it worse.

Our future national leaders in the GOP need to have the same rectitude...or no need to apply IMO.

This is exactly why Democrats now hold dictarorial power over the country.

Then why respond? Your cavalier attitude towards a father and husband cheating on his wife, ignoring his duties as governor, and carrying on for at least a year is truly pathetic

Suspecting is one thing, but to crucify him without/before the proof is just ugly.

Two admitted Republican adulterers are still in the Senate: Ensign of Nevada and Vitter of Louisiana.
Sanford is not resigning as Governor and he’s term limited so he doesn’t have to stand for reelection.

It’ll probably stop, when people get over their Puritan ethic
I'm far from religious, but I see something terribly wrong when someone rents a top hat, invites all his family, friends, and neighbors to witness, stand before the alter of his family's god, swears a mighty oath to be faithful to one women, and thereafter leaves wife and children in the lurch to chase some skirt that gives him a hard-on. Guess I'm just an old Puritan

"The Dems like Obama can get away with anything in their past, including drug use while we have to walk on water.

Time for us to join the 21st Century."

It's not that we feel holier than thou. The fact is that we don't want people like Obama & the rest of the filthy RATS or Republicans like them, running America.

There are better people in this great country that can govern us in a way that we can be proud of!

Getting into the 21st Century does not mean that 'everybody does it', so we should settle for the lowest of the low.

I really don't care one way or the other.

The GOP doesn't need an identified leader/spokesperson, especially since 2010 comes before the next POTUS election. Worrying about who should speak for all GOPers or Conservatives is a strawman as the people should be able to speak for themselves. Similarly, pushing a particular candidate as the best option for 2012 is way premature.

Today just reinforces the attitude that I've had about out politics and politicians for years.

We're doomed to be led by sociopaths, narcissists, and people you'd ordinarily have nothing to do with in your real life.

Anyone who would think it was acceptable to have to weather the indignities of campaigning, fundraising, the media rectals, backstabbing, and the shifting of personal values necessary to get elected is often, very simply, a P.O.S. There are exceptions, but the proof is right there on our TV screens today.

They're not in it to help our country, maximize our freedom, and honor our Constitution. They're in it for the power, the money that comes with it, to hear they're names in the news (good or bad), and to gain the esteem from without that they can't generate from within.

I see no escape from them anymore. Screw every last one of them.
