He has certainly embraced it this past week.
And, as I said on another thread, he is exemplifying incompetent diplomacy.
His ‘reasoning’ has been: “If Ahmanutjob wins, I'll have to work with him in the future. So I don't want to tick him off now.”
But that is ignorant, weak, and stupid diplomacy.
His tact should be: “I am going to strongly denounce what is going on over there. I'll condemn it. And I'll even threaten sanctions. THAT WAY, if Ahmanutjob wins, he will have to come crawling to me, begging NOT to have sanctions put against him. And if he LOSES, his replacement will fear me. Either way, I have the upper hand moving forward.”
Ahmanutjob has all the upper hand at this point.
